Nemcrazy
I was at my reef club meeting/BBQ at Oceans by Design and won this beautiful tank in a raffle!! It's a custom 28 gallon semi cube made by CFI. All the edges are bullnosed and panels are 3/8" thick. The overflow will be put in as soon as I figure out whether it will be corner or center overflow and all the loc line options. But wha t I'm wondering about the most is what will be the theme? I'm thinking deep water haunt, or fringehead, painted greenling and fish eating anemone with a white spotted rose anemone, or ? The funny thing is I just started a 30 gallon long with a nice sand bed. Maybe I will tie both systems to the same sump/chiller. Link to comment
AquaticEngineer
Dude, that is slick! Are you thinking something totally new? Or just make it a high lighted tank of some of the existing stuff you have? Link to comment
Nemcrazy
That's what I'm pondering. Should I highlight some stuff from the big tank or go a new direction. I've been wanting to try a deepwater setup but that may be tougher to do. But having a simple setup with a fringe head, painted greenling and a couple of larger nems sounds classy. Link to comment
Blubbernaut
You wanna have a fish-eating 'nem' with fish?... That makes negative sense to me..... Link to comment
Nemcrazy
Well I hear your point. But also the fish I have are kept with tons of dangerous nems. And I have only lost tubesnouts to those nems. So please don't have tubesnouts with urticinia nems. This scene from my lobster tank shows how packed the nems are. But there is a Coldwater fish that has a special relationship with these powerful anemones. The painted greenling actually gets hosted by fish eating anemones and other urticina nems. Mine floats in and out of all my nems with zero problems and even seeks safe haven from my garibaldi by burying himself in anemones:) Link to comment

Your scene totally reminds me of the tide pools along the coast. I like it. Link to comment
Mike Savage
I like the direction this is going and will be following along! Link to comment
Nemcrazy
OK I finally have it built!!! It debuted at the Bob Moore frag swap. I originally intended it to be a lump suckers tank along with several other friendlies. But at the event I didn't have some of the stock that I wanted. And I was taking delivery of my roommates Pacific red octopus. Since mine is pretty octo proof we put it in mine. And that is where it will stay until the roommates 60 gets octoproofed. I also have blue with orange bat stars, corynactis, two juvenile black rockfish. And a ton of feeder crabs. I went with the eel grass bed biotope. I have a few pics and a few videos that I'll add over the next lil bit. Link to comment
Nemcrazy
Well yes indeed I have an update. The octopus died from stress from temp controller issues and the rockfish nipping at it. Really the tank was brand new. He wasn't supposed to be in there for more than a day or two. Since it was a new tank but had to stay due to the owner not completing the octo proof of his tank. But now I have a different look. I grabbed a bunch of macro the other day and now here is the new look:) Link to comment
