Snow_Phoenix
That's a lot of bioload for a 40B, but if you go really slowly (space out the fish additions) and have a powerful skimmer, then I don't see a problem in the long run. Almost everyone on NR overstocks their tank anyways. And are you planning on pairing up the Randalli's with a pistol? Link to comment
Sunar357
Yes, I know it's a bit overstocked but with the large sump and oversized skimmer I think it'll be fine. I will definitely be slow in adding the fish for sure. Oi! I forgot! Yes, I was planning on a pistol. Time to edit that! Do you have a favorite? Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
I like the red striped ones. They're beautiful, although they're fairly common. Link to comment
Boyder
Looks, really cool. Can't wait to see how it looks. Link to comment
Sunar357
Ohhh yes, that is the Randalli I think...just like the goby I want. I could have a Randalli pair. lol Link to comment

Sunar357
Will do for sure. Build will be a bit slow as my parent's are coming down with the tank and stand (Petco $1/G sale up there and Dad built the stand) on Friday. I'll have two weeks off here soon but that's because my wife is going to 'unleash the Kraken' onto the world Saturday! AKA She's having my son....so it'll be a busy time. =) Link to comment

Sunar357
Received my return bulkhead and nozzles last night. I'm using a Y split to run two lines off the return. One facing in front of the rockwork and one behind. Of course I forgot to order TWO nozzles....so yeah...placed another order for another and some NLS pellets. Link to comment
NirvanaandTool
Congrats on the kid and the new tank! Definitely oversize the skimmer if you can afford it. I have no problems running a SWC120 in my 29g sump for my 40b. Good luck with the build! Link to comment
Sunar357
Thanks! My tanks and stands should be arriving today. If no baby tomorrow it'll be water testing and drilling. Link to comment
Sunar357
Whew, well stand is done and varnished and looking excellent. Finally found a place that would cut glass for me and got the glass panels cut today. Today's goal is to start the gluing of the panels into the sump. Still no holes drilled as i've been busy but that should be today or tomorrow also. Link to comment
Sunar357
Tank drilled last night and a panel in the sump. I'm doing a panel a day in the sump because i'm a sump building newbie and i'm paranoid. =D Purchased: BRS Value 4 State Plus RO/DI and 250W Jager heater....was going to get 200W but they were out so for a $1 more went bigger. Note: The silicone I ended up with was BLACK instead of the Clear I had ordered...of course this was noticed after I had opened it. UGH! Oh well, going to try and scrape as much as I can down...glad it's the sump. Painted bottom and back of 40B with Black Krylon Fusion. Link to comment

NirvanaandTool
Congrats on the baby! Why scrape the black silicone? Who cares if its black silicone. It's a sump. I used black Momentive silicone on my last sump cause that's what I was using for my overflow in my 40B. Use what you got ya know? Link to comment
Sunar357
Well i'm keeping an open stand with a decently large fuge I was going to do as a display. Ohwell, it'll work out fine! Link to comment
NirvanaandTool
Ah gotcha. Display fuge makes sense. Maybe just scrape back enough to make a clean line? Link to comment
farkwar
I wish I had used black silicone for mine. Go for it, it will look great. Link to comment

Sunar357
Wellllllll my Dad did the silicone job on her. LOL She looks alright for a sump I guess and I won't complain. =) She is all done and back is painted with Krylon black. Today is the water test and then plumbing starts. My whole office is a wreck or i'd have some pictures. lol Soon! Thanks on the congrats! He'll be a good little reefer in the future! In the future I plan on strapping his car seat into a computer chair so he can sit up and see the fish. =D Link to comment
