RC1313
Hi everybody, sorry I'm totally blowing up this forum tonight. But I purchased a swalesi basslet from divers den tonight and I was wondering what the quarantine process should be. I normally treat all new arrivals with cupramine and prazi for two weeks, should I go ahead with that? Or just observe it for some time? Do I even need to QT from Divers Den? Thanks for your help Link to comment
1.0reef
They (Liveaquaria/DD) recommend that you should QT. Link to comment
RC1313
So should I go ahead with cupramine/praziquantel treatment? Link to comment
Chadf
DD fish have already been quarantined, I wouldn't bother. Link to comment
Rollermonkey
I quarantined all of my fish from DD, but did not treat for anything. Every fish turned out fine. Link to comment
1.0reef
DD fish have already been quarantined, I wouldn't bother. IIRC their qt could be very different, they recommend you qt their fish, their qt methods are prob somewhere on the site.... Link to comment
Tamberav
So should I go ahead with cupramine/praziquantel treatment? I would just do prazi and skip cupramine for now. Most DD fish are healthy but sometimes they do end up with ich or other parasites. I did have one personally that had internal parasites (flasher wrasse) and was from Diver's Den. Basically not every fish is treated with meds or the same meds and they still could be harboring pests. I usually just do a shortened QT of about a week for DD fish since prazipro takes 5 days to work. If they are healthy, full of vigor and eating at the end of the week, then in the DT they go. MikeTR
QT gives them a chance to recover from the stress of shipping without having to tolerate other tankmates harrasing them. Gives you time to observe and make sure they are eating. Can take more than a week for signs of parasites to show. The risk increases the more fish you have in your DT though. I didn't quarantine the clownfish I got for the nano as it's the only fish. Everything that goes into the big tank gets 6 weeks minimum. Link to comment
RC1313
I'll probably prazi them for five days and then a formalin bath before the DT? Link to comment
indyjaco
DD does not QT. They condition a fish for a minimum of two weeks. I would QT at your place to be sure of the fishes health and your tanks. Link to comment

Spirofucci
I didn't QT mine, but I must say that these basslets are much purdier in person that the photos I've seen. I love mine, but he does hide a lot...... Link to comment
