Hey Everyone

Thank you for participating in our New release Skimmer giveaway!

The main objective of the PLS-50 nano skimmer is to offer a truly professional grade and performance protein skimmer that our larger 100G-450G skimmers have. With the new Pipeless PLS-50 many features before that was mostly exclusive to large protein skimmers such as Air injection venturi, Pin-wheel impellers, internal Bubble-plates, 100% Cell-cast acrylic etc. are now able to fit in your nano aquarium. Due to its space saving solutions of our Patented Pipeless skimmer technology, these features are now fitted inside a true nano skimmer.

Here is our Q&A Thread for anyone that has questions about our upcoming PLS-50 Nano skimmer. if you want to know the specs, compatibility with your system, how it works or used, feel free to let me know. your answers is just a question away.

Thank you

Hi, Ballhog

Which size Solana do you have? if you have more than 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" it will fit fine for you.

Thanks

I understand you give the dimensions of the skimmer at 15" tall, but there are few more height related questions I can't seem to find the answer to.

1) What is the minimum and maximum waterline height from the bottom of the skimmer?
2) Do I have to use the hang on wall bracket, i.e. it can't rest on it's base instead
3) When disassembling it how much additional height is needed to remove the skimate cup?

Incase you can't tell, I'm afraid it'll be a tight fit where I put it.

Hi, KingArthur3

Do you know how much clearance you have in the filter chambers? if you have 3.5" x 3.5", then our PLS-50 will fit in there fine. it can run on the bottom of the tank or hanging with the pump suspended as long as you have 4" or so for the pump to submerge in is fine.

Just installed my new PLS 50 in my Nuvo 38. I had high expectations coming from a failed experience with the IM SkimMate.

A few initial observations...

-Took 5 mins only because I read the directions...the default adjusted height from CAD Lights was perfect.

-It's already skimming.

-No bubbles in the tank...none.

-Very quiet...a very low rumble from the bubble percolating but not annoying.

-Easy adjustment.

-Solidly built and engineered.

-And good looking skimmer for the nuvos...IMO!

This thing will be the nano skimmer of choice.

I set it one time and only empty the cup a couple x a week.

No tweaking no bubbles...unprecedented

Interesting question i received today, i thought to share it here for anyone who has a similar question:

Question:

The O-ring in the bottom isnt fully tight and sealed. is it supposed to be water tight on the O-ring area? mine is kind of loose when i make the turns.

Answer:

No, the O-ring isnt made to seal or tighten the reaction body into the mount. in fact it is there to do the opposite. the O-ring is put into place to provide some lubrication between the acrylic surfaces for a smoother, easier turn. kind of like a bumper system in between 2 hard surfaces.

*tip: if the turns become tight as time goes on. you can apply a little bit of non-scented vaseline onto the O-ring for lubrication. this gives you much smoother turns (like new).

Thanks,

Scott

Mr. Microscope

I just started using mine about a week ago. I guess it's still in the break in period.

Question:

It says 6 inch depth is ideal. Does that include the height that the pump gives it?

Not including the pump, I have the skimmer only a couple inches below the water line and I still think the water line coming up too high. I have it dialed in the middle which seems to be the lowest possible setting (to the left or right makes the waterline go higher).

Any thoughts?

I personally, as well as others I recommended it to, find 5.5-5.75 from bottom of pump to waterline works best.

Hi, Mr. Microscope

The measurement of 6" stock recommendation is including the pump.

You can also use the 2 connecting plates as a guide as well. right around 1" or so above those two white connecting plates is fine. thats around 5"-6". at lowest we have had people running it about 1/2" above the white plates (4.5") to as high as 2" above the white connecting plates (6.5").

for my personal tank, i have it running at around 5" as well.

Any questions you have feel free come again to this help desk

Dear CAD lights,

I don't think this will fit in my 12G CAD lights tank, the back chamber seems to be only 3" wide. I'm bummed! Could you make one that is a little thinner?

Hi, mx5apex

Glad to see a CAD tank owner here. your 12G looks great!

The PLS-50 is the smallest we can make so far as it is actually a 50G skimmer. i tried removing the rear mount but the smallest it can bring it down to is about 3 1/8".

Thanks

Brian

I just purchased a pls-50. When I plugged it in the water level won't come up to the bubble plate when I have the drains full open if I closed the drain completely the water level is just below the bubble plate. It is hanging in 5.5 inches of water measuring from the bottom of the pump suction cups. Any help would be apreciated.

Yeah i wish too. it will do an incredible job in that range.

im going to set up a thread on our sponsors area to let customers help us with a list that the PLS-50 can fit into. should help many customers (including us) in seeing if the PLS-50 can fit for them.

Thanks so much
