Does this seem to be any help? I googled images for orange spotted snail and homed in on a picture that claimed it was an orange spotted sand snail. It looks as if the conical shape with colors and pattern match the description. This thread claims they are very picky.

I'm pretty sure they're detritus eaters but some have also said they eat worms and other invertebrates. They're not exactly known to be reef safe. They can also not eat for months so it's hard to say whether or not it's actually feeding and staying alive.

If I were you I'd take it back to the LFS and trade it for a nassarius snail, which are actually sand sifting and reef safe. If not... at least you'll have a pretty shell if it starves.

I definitely agree that nassarius snails are a much better bet for sand sifting while being completely reef safe. I have 4, 3 of which are offspring from the original snail introduced to the tank. I would take it to a LFS.
