Haelstrom
Begun the building of my new 75 stand. The stand is pretty tall at nearly 3'. Gives lots of room underneath. Inner frame is 2x4's. Hope to build the doors and stain everything this weekend. Link to comment
Spirofucci
Beautiful!!! I like that you made it taller and wider! Link to comment
Chadf
That's some impressive work right there! I prefer black stands, but it would be a shame to cover that with paint. Link to comment
Haelstrom
Thanks for the complements. I've learned the trick to wood working is learning how to cover your mistakes. The stand will be stained a espresso/java color. Which is a very dark brown almost black. I like the natural wood colors but I love dark stained woods. Link to comment
Haelstrom
3 Coates of stain and the first coat of poly. Doors are built, stained and first coate of poly. Painted the back black so it's not so visible when you walk by the side of it. Link to comment
Reef_Ninja
With all that room underneath, are you going with a sump? Link to comment
Haelstrom
With all that room underneath, are you going with a sump? Yup. Have a 29 gallon tank that I'm working on as a sump. Debating building a separate small cabinet to go to one side of the tank and use it for my ATO and storage area. Link to comment
Haelstrom
Just about completed the stand. Just need to add the felt pads for the bottom so it won't scratch floors. Link to comment

Haelstrom
Wow! That's beautiful! You must be a pro =) Thanks for the complement. I am no pro. I've been getting into wood working projects for the past couple of years and I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I had to cover lots of mistakes and redo a few things. But I'm happy with the results and definitely like the complements. Now I hope I'm as good at keeping a reef as I am at wood working. Link to comment
