For our latest poll, we'll take a look at a more somber subject, the changing global economy.

Its been wild roller coaster ride the past 8 years, and it seems we've all been effected in some way. Booms, busts, recession, and recovery, no one can quite say where we are on the path, the only thing for certain is that we'll continue to face some big changes.

Fill out the poll based on your experiences, and share a little something about how you've been effected, for better or worse, in the comments.

Nano sapiens

I downsized to a 12g Nano from a 50g around 2008, partially due to the worsening economy and partially due to a co-worker's challenge (he wasn't having much luck with his Nano). Turned out to be a good move since overall I actually enjoy the Nano more and if I hadn't done so I wouldn't be on this fun site :)

Mostly, I've been sticking to the essentials like salt and food. The funds for all of the equipment/livestock purchases I've made over the last year or so have come directly from the sale of livestock or work I've done for an aquarium/reef related company.

I have to say do to my education I'm very fortunate that I've double my income. Don't however give any sort of credit to the current political regime. I'm lucky to be an Senior engineer for one of the top employers of this country and their risk taking to expand their products to the public/private sector. I've actually have order more livestock, equipment and added two new tanks to my collection this year also upgraded from a 150gal to a 300gal two years ago.

I've always maintained a spreadsheet of expenses and also sales of equipment and livestock.

If the banks weren't so tight I would be able to expand my business and make much more $$ which would mean upgrade for me :) I will expand anyway, just going to take a year or two. In the mean time I'll grow my acros :)

I have been buying less and less over the last 4 years. It is strange this came up now. I have been trying to decide if I need to take down my 40B and just use my old 10.
