I've been loving my 50mm F1.8 lens. Just wish I had spent a bit more for auto focus. I have the Nikon D5200 and it doesn't have its own internal focus motor.

I'm not the best with manual focus yet. I only use it when doing macro since I'm not very good with it. But I do need to pick up a 50mm soon.

Manual focus is nice to learn the basics and for stationary objects, but when it comes to trying to do street photography its a major pain. I found my Nikon 50 mm on ebay for 80 bucks. They are constantly being listed.

so what you think about the new D750?? i really want to get into FF.

also, how you liking the 24-120mm f4? i just dropped mine on cement...SOO pissed.

i haven't looked at the new D750, I've been too busy trying to learn everything i can about my D610.

And i love the 24-120mm f/4. it's a generally good lens for everything. i've taken great action, stills, portraits, and landscape shots with it.

I'll definitely need to pick one up. i still want the 105mm macro too. and the 70-200mm sport lens... but the $$$$$$$$

I want to get the 90 mm macro from Tamron. Such a nice lens and not terribly expensive if you get it from ebay. The biggest thing I'm having trouble with is setting white balance on my D5200. I don't have color temperature settings. Instead I can go into an advanced setting in the auto WB and choose a color from a palette. Using the custom WB doesn't seem to work or the camera just can't accommodate the deep blue color of our tanks. How do you guys get set your WB?

I have a color temp setting on my d610. So someone else may need to chime in. I know you can set it using a white card held under the blue light and that should help with WB. But only if your camera has a custom WB setting.

I set it to 10000K shoot in RAW and adjust the pictures in Lightroom.

never mind, i know why. apparently the 24-120mm is one of the worst lenses. well. looks like i should sell it and get the 70-200mm VR or the 105mm VR macro.

edit, i kinda sorta lied. the old version (24-120 f3.5-5) was ranked one of the worst. looks like this lens (24-120 f4G ED VR) has much better reviews. but the corners of the pictures when zoomed all the way in and out are very soft. bleh. luckily i crop 99% of my pictures, so it's not too big of a deal. but i need that 24mm focal length when taking pictures of the stars.... hmm i have had my eye on the new nikkor 20mm f1.8 but at $800 i could find a similar option for less i'm assuming?

The problem may be the lens shade, at the widest angle many of the Nikon shades cause vignetting.

This one happens at the shortest and longest. In the middle it's okay.

My old 70-200mm never had a problem. I think that'll be my next lens. I need a good fx sport lens and I read nothing but good things about it. (Unless there's a canon vs nikon war).

Sounds about right. Just bad lens hood pairing, have you tried removing the lens hood?
