NanoTopia
NanoTopia's ADA 30c (7.2 gallon) Reef TOTM January 2015 Well, like I pointed out in my 20 gallon TOTM write-up, my 20 gallon really didn't have a whole lot of planning when I set it up initially. I think I made up for that with this build... A 7.2 gallon ADA 30c cube display (custom overflow and drilled) with a Do!Aqua 4 gallon sump and a Do!Aqua 4 gallon ATO reservoir housed in a custom enclosed stand utilizing the finest materials available. This build took some time to finish as the ADA tank on order from Japan took longer than expected, the Canadian distributor did not have one in the country. The build went over budget as well, which is usually the case when many upgrades and revisions to equipment are needed. It was a great learning experience for me, invaluable really. I think everyone should build there own system from the ground up. Latest Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUWogKRlW0s Current FTS (TOTM Jan 2015) Previous FTS See how it was built Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Display: ADA 30C (7.2 gallon) 30cm X 30cm X 30cm / 5mm high clarity glass. An overflow will be constructed using 5mm black acrylic. Two 1 1/2 inch holes drilled to accommodate 3/4 inch bulkheads. One 1 1/4 inch hole will be drilled to accommodate a 1/2 inch bulkhead (details regarding location to be reviled at a later date). Sump: Do!Aqua 4 gallon cube measuring 25cm X 25cm X 25cm / 5mm standard glass. For those not familiar with the Do!Aqua tanks, they are built by ADA in Japan with the same standards as the ADA tanks, the only difference is they use standard glass in place of high clarity glass used on the ADA tanks. Space will be tight in the sump, at this point I am unsure if I will be customizing with baffles or not.ATO Reservoir: Do!Aqua 4 gallon cube measuring 25cm X 25cm X 25cm / 5mm standard glass. A custom top will be constructed to lower evaporation. No other customization required.Plumbing: Loc-Line 1/4 inch tubing, 1/2 inch tubing, Check valve X 2, Y-Splitters. SCH80 PVC tubing, ball valves, and various fittings. Stand: Custom wood construction, veneer finish with white stain and clear coat. Dimensions are roughly 12" X 12" X 48".Lighting: Custom Nano Box LED with Storm controller, 13 leds on 4 channels.Other Equipment: To date I plan using the following equipment: ✔ Digital Aquatics RKL w/ SL1 module ✔ Innovative Marine Skimmer ✔ Tunze Osmolator Nano Automatic Water Top Off - 3152 ✔ Tunze Silence Water Pump - 1073.020 (Max 634 GPH) ✔ Custom reactor (media undetermined) ✔ Aqueon 50 watt heater ✔ 2 X 120mm computer fans ✔ Pinpoint pH Monitor Changed to DA SL1 module and pH probe ✔Nano Box Custom Led w/ Storm controller Current filtration and other remarks: Filtration method is basically a Berlin sump, dry and live rock in the display along with 1 inch aragonite substrate. All dosing is by hand, including Zeovit additives but this is in no way a full Zeovit tank. I plan 10-20% water changes weekly. Additional nutrient reduction method may be implicated if needed.Current Livestock:CORALSMontipora cebuensisMontipora spp. "Firecracker"Montipora capricornis "green"Montipora tuberculosa. The plumbing is also not shown along with various equipment but it should give you a fairly good idea. The front on the stand will have a door as well.PS: Questions regarding the center drill in the display will not be answered at this time, all I will say is, it's for the return. frags
Love the design! I was into freshwater planted for awhile and they love those tanks! What is the plan for types of coral? Link to comment
fissues
In keeping with my standards, no inferior equipment or products will be used on this build Excellent. This should be an awesome little setup. Is there any particular reason you're planning on a traditional overflow box as opposed to something more space friendly like an xaqua or an oceanlife? Link to comment
supernip
for a tank this size i honestly wouldnt bother with a sump or stand. Link to comment
JR!
for a tank this size i honestly wouldnt bother with a sump or stand. to be honest i really have to agree. i mean it will turn out amazing i have no bought but thats alot of work for that size tank. but then again thats what this hobby is all about Link to comment
Hexadron
I think Christine is doing that mainly to keep equipment out of the display as well. Either way, I love it. Link to comment

Is there any particular reason you're planning on a traditional overflow box as opposed to something more space friendly like an xaqua or an oceanlife? There good systems but the xaqua and oceanlife will not work for what I am planning overall. for a tank this size i honestly wouldnt bother with a sump or stand. You obviously don't know me very well, I overkill everything I do Link to comment

NanoTopia
I ordered some plumbing, Loc-Line and SCH80 PVC, I ordered a little more stuff than I will use on this tank because with shipping it made sense, I can use the extras on other builds in the future (always thinking ahead) BRS Plumbing Order (this was an international order so shipping is expensive, can't find all the SCH80PVC in Canada): World Tools (located in Canada): Link to comment

NanoTopia
I like it. Now you need a dark version with a Razor Nano Yes that is correct, these are the two versions that I originally came up with. After seeing the white though it's going to be hard to beat it. Christine Link to comment

eitallent
I like the simple lines and the height seems perfect for gazing. I love my Razors. I am confident you will like it too. Since the razors are black with steel gray fins you may include those tones at the very bottom trim/base and keep the cabinet white. That would pull the whole thing together. Link to comment

I hear ya, I like black also, by the time the Razor comes out in Canada it will be Christmas so if I go that route I will be ordering it from the USA. Reefing costs 40% more in Canada than the USA, but it's worth every penny I like the simple lines and the height seems perfect for gazing. I love my Razors. I am confident you will like it too. Thanks E, that's a great option, I will consider that. A lot of the decision making will come down to what's available in Canada when I get to the finishing stage, that won't be for a while. I also would like to see some reviews on the Nano Razor as well. Link to comment
