Acielot
I have no experience with clams but from pictures I have seen of others clams with pinched mantle that doesn't look quite the same. This clam looks small. How big is it? Link to comment
OMGSIIK
no idea what happened to it, but I have to say that there's no turning it around by the look of it. How long have you had it for? Link to comment
bobssecrtsn
I had it about 2-3 months now Link to comment
metrokat
It looks too far gone to be saved, I'm sorry. Link to comment
bobssecrtsn
Yeah.. i saw a Nassi snail inside while picking it up. gosh darn it. Link to comment
Acielot
Were you feeding at all? If that clam is as small as it look you should have been feeding it. Link to comment
bobssecrtsn
The clam is 4-5 inches across. if it was below 2" i wouldve been spot feeding. Link to comment
ZephNYC
Hey, we spoke about this case on RC. Your clam starved to death and does not appear to have PM. Feeding it would not have helped. Link to comment

So Zeph, no matter what size the clam you purchase is, contrary to popular belief, you do need to target feed? Link to comment

I've never target fed mine and it's got plenty of new growth on the shell and is always happy and extended with no gaping.. Link to comment

That's great, I want to get past the 2-3 month point. Not saying that I would be in the clear completely but it would give me piece of mind that the clam has taken to its new home fairly well. I guess following a few suggestions and precautions can bless you with a beautiful little animal for a long time. Here is a pick of my little baby, which I think is pushing the past the 3 inch mark. ZephNYC
So Zeph, no matter what size the clam you purchase is, contrary to popular belief, you do need to target feed? Definitely not. Under ideal conditions you shouldn't have to feed your clams regardless of their size. Most of the large aquaculture clam farms ( Palau, and ORA farms) do not feed their juvenile and even larval clams. Link to comment
