If anything it will be a starter pump till I can afford something different, but hopefully its quiet yeah. and Thanks! Yours is one of my favorite 40b's on here.

tank on the stand, just for giggles. Stand cut out for the overflow and I took the shelf out to put the sump on the bottom for easier access. I'll raise it back up if its too much head.

Well Ive had the tank actually running for 5 days now. Had the LR in a tub of saltwater with a powerhead and heater for 2 weeks, when it was in there the first couple days I put a good helping of shrimp brine in hoping that might help a cycle in the tub (rocks were only out of a tank for about 3 minutes even at the fish store).

I tested yesterday and today, 0 amm, 0 nitrite and 5ppm nitrate. Think any cycling it needed to do happened and its all ready? I have a few peices of cured base rock in my sump as well as a HOB filter that came out of my established tank running in the 2nd chamber. Wanna see what you guys think before I ad any of my livestock/coral.

It looks like it is ready to add livestock. I would add slowly to see how things respond. Do you have any snails or crabs in the tank? Maybe add some of those and see what happens. They do not really add any bioload, so you could also add a fish if you want. Just wait a couple of weeks after adding the first fish before you start adding more. This hobby is about going slow. Anything that happens fast spells doom. Let us know if you have any other questions.

What kind of fish are you looking to keep?

I forgot to mention that I added my snails and crabs to it yesterday too, 5 blue legs, one red leg and like 6 snails.

Im upgrading to this from a 10g, which I have a yellow tail damsel in now and plan to keep. Was hoping to ad other first first, yellow watchman and a couple others Im not sure on yet, first, then the damsel. Im wondering now if I ad my damsel first to see if everything stays good, will he become territorial very fast? Or could I take him back out after a week or so, ad a new fish or two then ad him a couple weeks later?

tanks doing real well, still have some diatoms but their on the way out. Through a diy skimmer in my sump and chaeto in my fuge as well.

Ive added more rock and coral and my fishies are a yellow tail damsel, mandarin goby, watchman goby, tiger pistol and a banghai cardinal.

Pics suck though, cell doesnt show good color at all.

Heres a crappy pic from today, added some zoas, a leather and a flower pot, hoping it does ok. The SPS I got for free, the LFS said it was dead but I through it in my tank a week ago anyways and its getting green back to it, I hit it with a brush to see if it was just algae and nothing came off so maybe it is coming back, its a Green Tip.

Changed my 15t sump to a 30 today with fuge, getting chaeto in the next week or so. Will the light that came with my 40b be enough for the fuge? its a t5 full spektrum is what it says, just the stock light they include from petsmart.

Looking great. That brain is unreal, can I steal it? *looks wistfully into the distance* I hope my brain looks that nice when it gets moved to my new 40. It's, er... was blue and green now it's just pale green.

Thanks guys, unfortunatly the brain died as well as a slew of others after using the new GE2 silicone on a new sump, they added a mold agent to it which did not go over well. Its coming along again though, I'll get a pic tomorrow of its current state.

Hmmmm not sure I like the new bulbs much. Nothing stands out, kinda all the same color now. Opinions, please?

I tried it with those 4 plus two actinic, then two 12000k's, which is nice and bright but not sure i like that either. I did do one actinic and one 12k also wich wasnt real good.

My previous setup was 3 12k and 2 actinics which looked pretty good but I wanted something different.
