TheKleinReef
anyone use the aquapod 2 x 250W halide fixture? is it worth using or should i get a system that has t5s as well? here's a pic of it on: *the spectrum is off because the bulbs are at least 5 years old** also, the ballasts and fans are really loud, is this common? and is there any way to quiet them down? TheKleinReef
Genius. Im building a tank the same foot print but 4 inches taller looking forward to what you come up withIt's going to be a grow out and frag tank basically. But I'm still debating on running a sumpor not. Nice!! I'm thinking about plumbing a frag tank into my 180.I would love to combine my 29 to this but I don't want to move the tank.... Link to comment

TheKleinReef
well well well this is cool Thanks. I'm still debating on how I want to filter it. What's our intake sump, closed loop, or closed loop + sump? Link to comment
MikeTR
Sump it and go bare bottom. Decent skimmer. Remote DSB and a couple chunks of live rock in the sump. Nothing grows coral better than halides.. get some 10k bulbs and add on some T5s. 1 Link to comment

Lol how big of a DSB would I need I'd rather not have once since they are a bit of a b***** to maintain. I could to a remote refugium with a bunch of algae. Maybe some seahorses uh oh. I'm getting ideas. This isn't good. Right now my plan is to figure out how to plumb this. I might ditch the closed loop and plan around a sump/fuge then add the CL back in if I need to. I don't want any power heads in the tank.... Ugh so much to doooooo Lucky. I wish I had an extra room for a tank room hahaIt was part of the workshop.... Until we put a wall in and it turned into a junk room. Now it has a purpose. 1 Link to comment
MikeTR
Just get a 55 gallon tank and section it appropriately. DSB shouldn't be a pain to maintain, just fill it 6-8", set and forget. If you're goin open top you can probably get away with not having a chiller. Clip on air king fan to blow all the heat away from the MH's. Unless the basement gets warm. Link to comment
MikeTR
uh... scratch the 55g... since you're makin the frag tank.. make your custom sump Link to comment
