First impression is, Wow! It's very sleek and small. I am going to be taking a dremel to an inTank AC70 Media basket (since I don't have lasers like Stevie) to allow it to set against the back of my filter.

Will post a follow-up after I get it wet and use it for a bit.

I just bought the 100W version about two weeks ago to replace my malfunctioning jager. Very compact and well built, it feels much safer than having a glass heater and takes up very little room. It's so compact that I forgot it was there the other day and left it plugged in during a water change. I noticed it when it started to smoke (steaming the remaining water off). Unplugged it, no damage.

I bought mine to use with a reef keeper lite, but then started to worry after I hit the "buy" button whether the digital thermostat would hold it's setting when the controller is constantly turning it on and off (essentially unplugging it). Happy to say it works and remembers it's setting! The thermostat actually seems fairly accurate as well..

Glad to know that it plays well with a controller. I'm looking into getting a 50w for my 5 gal controlled via apex. How much higher do you have the heater set compared to the turn off temp on the controller?

I have my RKL set at 79 and my heater set at 80. No problems so far, although I'll need to keep an eye on the RKL as my last probe tended to drift. Note that the heater is only adjustable in 2 degree increments (even #'s).

The 50W will be more than enough for a 5 gal!

Glad to hear some positive feedback! I am excited to get this thing in my tank! (First time ever saying that about a heater!)

I found mine direct from Cobalt on Amazon.com to anyone looking...

great feedback, i purchased the 100w for use with my Biocube 29 and RKL. The sim profile and short height will be a perfect fit for chamber 3.

Is the unit totally submersible?

I did a review on it about a month ago. GREAT heater. I have the 100watt in my tank and couldn't be happier with it. I've been tracking it on my Apex and it runs for less than a 1/4 of the time that the Jager 100watt ran and it keeps the tank more consistent.

From the mfg website:

"Maximum depth of 31.5" deep at the bezel."

It is totally submersible. I think they say not to submerge it past a certain distance so you don't have too much wire in the tank.

Just an update.

Still loving this heater. I treat it awful (pull it out of my HOB filter while plugged in every 3 days to replace the filter floss) and it hasn't had a single problem!

I wanted to add to this. Ive had the 50w Neo-therm in my 10 gallon for about 4 months now. I use a regular thermometer and it doesnt budge from 77F.

I meant, the temp of the tank doesnt budge. :) Sorry. The heater is fantastic. I dont get the ups and downs in water temps that many other people seem to. I keep my apartment at 70F year round.

Love my 100 watt using it with my apex jr.

The controller on the heater is set to 78. On my apex I use this as a safeguard.

Fallback ON

Set OFF

If Temp < 85.0 Then ON

If Temp > 85.0 Then OFF
