Go and return that tank now! You'll thank me the rest of your life!

Well..........at least your wife will.

my wife's 40B freshwater will be turned into a saltwater - puffer tank, once her fish die. (5 to go) she doesn't take great care of her tank, so once it's SW I will be doing the maintenance.

+1, stocking plans?

Good luck! Keep us posted.

BTW, :welcome: to Nano-Reef!

Thank you. At first it was a FOWLR but I've lurked here for the past year and read all I could and I am now comfortable with building a Reef tank. I'm interested in a lot of corals but this one just really called to me...

This may just be a little inspiration. This is my 55 gallon that I've been running for 4 years and just like the rest of the people said I get a bigger fish tank as in dimension wise its really hard to aquascape!

What do you mean by it's hard to aquascape because of the dimensions... What kind of tank or shape/size makes aquascaping easier?

If you pay $30 for a single head of green blasto.. :slap: The only challenge with the long skinny tanks is creating the depth of field. FishB's tank looks good. So now that you got the cheap part out of the way.. ;) what are you planning to do for a stand/filtration?

And if you think that blasto strikes your fancy.. do we dare tell him about scolymia yet?

Our first child decided to come two months early, hopefully won't delay things much.

Beautiful baby! What type of bulbs are you keeping the baby under? They look like they would be good for your tank!

But seriously she is adorable! How is she doing?

Thank you and thank you. HE  is doing well. He was actually on a C PAP for the first 24 hours. Then jaundiced, so now the LED lights.

I was thinking the same thing about the lights being great for a tank!

My wife was put on some major meds due to severe eclampsia so she didn't even get to see him yet.

His name is Benjamin Joshua. I'm Benjamin (Ben) Joseph. Didn't want a Jr, per se.

What I mean is that since it is so tall in height and not that wide it is hard to make a pleasing seascape. Deeper dimensions like the 40 breeder you say you have is easier because it is deeper in width.

Congrats on the baby!

First advice I can give, paint the back black...Yes, I mean the tank not the baby.

I wish I would have been able to do this with mine, but with the condition it was in and how I transported it, I was not able to.

55 is a challenge to scape but not impossible. Fish brawler achieved an entrancing, sprawling, deep aquascape in his. I went for a compact minimalist scape in mine with a few arches. Height is the hardest thing to acheve in a 55 without stackng rocks aganst the back glass. Which i personaly dont like. Here is my scape.

Sorry! Congratulations on HIM! :) I saw "she" earlier and his hat looked pink under those LED's so I took a chance.

As for background color I am trying to decide what color I am going to paint my 40B right now. Can't decide between black (hide equipment better) and blue (looks more "natural")

the LEDS turned any yellow clothing a pink/red color. so, understandable.
