gabagool
I cut the tab off of my filter, yet this still didnt seem to fit. I pushed it in pretty good, and now I cant get it out. Any ideas? Kinda need to get this fixed ASAP since I need this filter to run tonight. Link to comment
StevieT
You can lift the plate that you cut the tab off of if you remove the intake tube. Lift it at an angle towards the opposite side of the basket. Hard to say anything else without seeing it in person. Link to comment
gabagool
So after trying for hours to get the basket out, I realized what happened. Without watching the video, or really looking at photo's, I put the media basket in backwards. This thing wont move. Anybody have any ideas besides breaking the aquaclear filter case to get this out? Luckily I have a backup filter which is running now. I tried hot water, cold water, even a little bit of vegetable oil, and it wont budge. Embarrassing and frustrating! Link to comment
StevieT
Put it in the freezer for a while. It may shrink that acrylic just enough that it will pop out. It has a lot of structure points but it's worth a shot before cutting. Link to comment

StevieT
I used to freeze the tubes when making skimmer cups. It would shrink them enough that they could be inserted into the hole without forcing, then when warming they would expand then we weld. Link to comment
gabagool
had it in the freezer for 45 min with no luck. Broke the filter casing to get it out. Will try again this weekend with my backup filter, and maybe i will put it in the right way this time!! :D Link to comment
StevieT
lol. Might be a good idea I was thinking in the freezer for hours, takes a while to lower the temp of all that plastic. Luckily you can get the housings for really cheep if you wanted to repair that one. Link to comment

For some reason, the motor on my replacement filter doesnt sound right, and I dont want to break this one without having a back-up laying around. Link to comment

Got the new housing and everything worked like a charm. I thought my tank was clear before, but this media basket changed everything! Plus, being able to take the heater out of the display makes it look that much cleaner! Thanks a bunch for making a great product! Link to comment
