Hospital Tank,

pollock

Recommended Posts

I am just preparing myself getting a Hospital tank, if it’s needed,

Tank around about 10G Heater/PVC piping/ Filter (might get a Built in Filter) depending what Tank I get

Now the part that confuses me

Say I need to put a Fish in the hospital tank

1) Put about 70% water from my DT (which is a red sea max)

2) Maybe put my filter wool or something from my DT

3) Put fish in?

No cycling or anything?

Thanks

Yeah, pretty much. The point of waiting for a tank to cycle is to let nitrifying bacteria process dead matter and establish a good population. If you just move over filter floss, the bacteria are already there and there's not a massive amount of dead stuff for them to break down so they're ready to process fish waste

what sort of Water changes should I be doing?

It's up to you. Nitrates under 200 ppm don't bother fish so that's not an issue. Just do as much as you feel like doing.

I have been maintaining a 2 gal wc per week on a 10g qt/ht

Should I use a Air stone or will Hob filter be enough? (or a small power head)

Was wondering if this applies to corals...

So if I were to buy some frags tomorrow at MAX, I could put them in a quarantine tank when I get home as long as I use 70% tank water and filter floss from my sump? And I could keep them there for a few weeks until a new tank cycles as lon g as I do water changes twice a week?
