oldpunk78
^ That's how I'd do it. Don't even try to do these bends with copper tubing. It's not meant to be bent. Link to comment
Scorched
Do you need a hanger, or can you go all the way to the ceiling? Link to comment

SouthFlorida_Tron
Brackets are EZ and cheap. Here's lowes L brackets vs custom ones... Untitled by J.L Photography, on Flickr Link to comment
mcarroll
that was pre paint and being cut down. ill have more pics tomorrow and how its attached to the stand. I dig that a lot! Think I may try it...got a build thread or any photos of construction you could share - esp. the bending? Did you take any precautions in the bending to achieve the 90º angles, or was it all "by eye"? (And is it as precicesly 90º *and* parallel to the tank *and* perpendicular to the floor as it appears in the pic??? ) Among others I've got a 50-pound fixture I might have to hang....how much to you suppose something like that would hold before bowing in the middle? (I know I'm asking for a wild-***-guess. I'm assuming adequate support to the back of the tank so maybe it's held up on both ends...just worried about bowing.) ^ That's how I'd do it. Don't even try to do these bends with copper tubing. It's not meant to be bent. Interesting! There seems to be adequate links indicating it's at least a somewhat common practice among plumbers and some (other) hobbyists. I could be wrong, but I looks like the post that was being referred to used copper, so apparently it worked there. I'm definitely curious though, why do you say that it wouldn't work/shouldn't be attempted and what would you suggest using instead and why? FWIW, I think some places do carry pre-formed 90's in copper with various radii available....like this. May spoil the clean looks to have the joints in the pipe though. Brackets are EZ and cheap. Here's lowes L brackets vs custom ones... Wouldn't those only work if your tank were among the smallest of the small and was pushed all the way up against the wall (what, am I Dr. Seuss?), or are you doing something to extend them out when you use them? I'm all questions! -Matt Link to comment

Daveg99
I still need to paint it black and cut it down a bit but you get the idea. I bent the conduit at home depot in the aisle using the pipe bender. Link to comment
lhernandez86
A CHEAP and easy install would be using these light hanging rods at the link below... http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod...fm?pcatid=24297 These are intended for reptile tanks but figured it could work for my shallow setup... I set up 2 over my ADA 60-F tank it looks great! Note - I did not use the adhesive that is provided, I drilled two holes through the plastic and screwed the rod holders into my stand. I installed my AI Sol Blues using picture hanging wire and it looks great. I will post a pic later on... Link to comment
Deano
LCD TV Bracket works great. It is what I used for my T5 fixture but no reason it will not work for LED's. You can buy these on ebay for $20 _ $25 all day long. Link to comment
ebola
Also check out eztube (google it). Pretty cheap, easy to work with, modular solution. Link to comment
