Builder Anthony Posted March 8, 2012 Share Posted March 8, 2012 im thinking about putting my water from a waterchage into a big bottle and placeing it under a light to hopeful grow some diatoms.when it looks like some are in there ill pour some in the tank.any feedback?i dont know what this will feed but i guess im just experimenting. Benthic diatoms will have no use to anything except maybe snails. Pelagic diatoms (phytoplankton) are worth culturing if you have something that eats them but it's extremely time consuming. Builder Anthony Posted March 9, 2012 Author Share Posted March 9, 2012 just wonder why you say no fishmonger....i was actually thinking snails eat them and hopefuly asteria,and a type of spegetti worm except it only has 2 whips.im really not concerned about green algae.i dont want cyano or green hair but green smooth is something i need for mainly the asteria.
