Has anyone ordered the Amphipod/Copepod Package from Reefs2go.com? I wanted to order for my mandarin but not sure about a few things. First off I'm ordering the 1000 count pack and it is buy one get one free. Does this mean ill get 500 plus 500 free, or 1000 plus 1000 free? I've been adding Reef Nutrition Tiger-Pods for him and he devours the entire population within 24-48hrs, so I'm dosing often. The Tiger-Pod bottle doesnt look like it could have more than 300-400 (Generous Guess) but I'd like to get a huge amount of population established. Im making use of the 2nd Chamber fuge on the BC29, I have a 2 1/2" Mandarin that loves his pods and wont even look at mysis or brine. Need advice on ordering. I Might actually order 2 1000 count packs and hope to get the free packs as well and really get the population going.

I ordered them after-all last night, And they didnt ship today. I'm kinda upset because the mandarin I have needs them. He doesnt look malnourished but he doesnt look plump like he should either. I was hoping to recieve them by friday but it doesnt look that way now. I emailed them so I'm waiting on a reply

Unless you are keeping all of your pumps off, there's no way your mandarin is eating all those tigger pods. They are getting eaten by coral and other fish and being taken out by filtration.

The amount of pods you are ordering accounts for about a week of food for your mandarin, and is not a sustainable food source. You need to either train him onto frozen or culture your own copepods if you want him to live long term.

+1, buying copepods is just a waste of money, especially those tiger pods which don't live very long in our aquarium and don't reproduce, so a real waste of money.

I feed my mandarin live white worms enriched with Selcon. I have them for 2 years and they are fat as can be. I did an Interceptor treatment in my tank 2 months ago and the pod population took a real hit and what's keeping my mandarins alive now are the white worms.

YOu really need to find an alternative food source, either white worms, fish roe, Hikary frozen bloodworms, cyclopeeze and some eat mysis.

I wanted to start a pod population as well and bought a bottle. Only to find out that they're better in cool temps not 78.

Funny, ther'es no mention of it on the bottle that they don't live in reef temps long and has directions on how to seed your refugium...

They do just fine at reef temps. They're a splash zone tide pool species that can survive long periods of temps up to 100 degrees. In the summer they are pretty much consistently in water warmer than reef temps. The problem is their behavior. They're a semi-pelagic harpacticoid so even if you put them in your fuge, they will be pumped out into the display where they'll be eaten in seconds.

I culture tigger pods and I love them as a treat for my fish, but they're definitely not for mandarins.

How would I go about raising pods? Do I need a separate tank? Might have to return him or give him to a better tank.

You would need multiple separate tanks. About 30 gallons of good cultures would be needed to support a single untrained adult mandarin.

Refer here for info regarding copepod culture. You would want Tisbe biminiensis for manadrins.

Package arrived and I don't think there are even 1000 pods all together. Maybe I cant see them all buy I only see like 400-500.

I've had nothing but success from them,I seeded my tank with over 5,000 pods then ordered the deal with mandarin and another 1,000 pods. I do agree though I went over board and when doing water changes and changing filter floss there all over the place! There even in my skimmer! Pods everywhere!! Even though I know it's a waste and I'm currently working with my LFS there gonna call me over so I can see there mandarins eat brine and other frozen food. As I type this I just ordered 2,000 more pods.

At night under a red light there are pods everywhere! Before I knew any better I bought 10 bottles of those trigger pods from reef nutrition. Not sure if any of it made any difference. I'm done buying pods and I'm gonna wait for the LFS to call. They had 12 pass in the last 8 weeks!!

I also want a red scooter blenny so bad!

You spent $200 on tigger pods that are just going to be eaten by your other fish and killed by your skimmer? I don't mean to sound like a b!tch, but stop wasting your money. Adding pods isn't going to help anything until you actually have something that eats them. The population will balance out to what the tank can handle, and all the pods you're adding are a complete 100% waste of money.

Nah you don't sound like a .... your right, bad advice. Thats why I said I'm working with my LFS and waiting for the mandarins to eat frozen or prepared food so I can get one. Hopefully in a week or so, I was there today and they fed a tank of them and red blennys but the owner wasn't comfortable selling me one yet, he said when there ready he'll call me so I can see for myself and pick one out.

IS there a LFS near you so you dont have to order from a place online? That way you can go in and pay, and take them home?

Might want to call around, I know the feeling of waiting for something to be delivered :)

I had a Mandarin for a long time but the tank was very old so he survived. I did buy the pods and pour it in. My Dragonet would eat live brine shrimp as well.

These pods are $20 at the LFS so I might buy a bottle and put in my refugium but after reading comments, I might not

I got a pack of amipods (and maybe it had copepods too) free with my latest shipment from Reefs2Go. I totally didn't expect that....I put them all in my tank since I had nowhere else to put them. That should feed everyone for awhile.

Please don't give this scam company your time and business. I gave them a chance and they treated me terribly and wasted so much of my time. I have never in my life had such a bad experience as with them. Currently using BBB and paypal claims to get my money back for items arriving dead, damaged, not as listed, and missing items from the order.

The reason they have trouble with their livestock and cannot tell you when they will ship is despite the claim of 1000s of animals in stock (they must all be pods) what they are doing is reselling. No wonder I had sooo much trouble and had to use the guarantee so often. The critters go from a plane to their facility to a truck. My latest order got cancelled when Delta's noon flight missed their 9pm UPS pickup. They couldn't ship frags I had ordered 2 weeks prior coz they needed time to heal, had just arrived to be fragged. We went around and around and I have some damning emails from them. Never Again. AND I had to go through VISA to get my $$ back, even though they never shipped (never received my items from Hong Kong, no doubt).

The exact or worse behavior from the box stores, at least they hold the livestock long enough to feed it and know if it's sick.

I don't care if they sponsor clubs. Disregard the Christian and Family references. That's a marketing move. How many times can I say Never Again? And the effort it took to Unsubscribe and block all the emails .....
