Anthrax15
New picture time!! Fish seem to love the new tank and especially the rock Think its too early to start skimming the tank? Link to comment
Anthrax15
Should I go ahead and buy my CUC now? Link to comment
calvin415
If you have 0 nitrIte then yes, if not then add a pinch of sugar and test again the next day. Link to comment
Anthrax15
lol a pinch of sugar? Link to comment
calvin415
Wait, you have fish, corals, and inverts and you're asking about a CUC? Why are they not already in? Yeah, sugar will help the bacteria and get you through the nitrate cycle faster, I add .8mL on average a day of sugar water to my system. Link to comment
Anthrax15
Everything is in and doing fine. I had some left over clean up crew that I threw in but it didn't seem like the new CUC will have enough to eat. Link to comment
Anthrax15
Added a legion of snails to the tank Thanks Reefcleaners! Also got some goodies. Long tongs which help so much, a long turkey baster that I am coming to find out was a waste of money, test kits, and the new Vertex Cleaner Mag which is pretty rad. Anthrax15
Got some SPS to see how they fair. A Setosa and ORA Hawkins. Also mounted some more coral on the rockwork. Added pods, Chaeto, and a crap load of snails that are crawling out of the tank every night o.O So I went ahead and bought a DIY Screen top. Any ideas on how to secure it? Im thinking since my water level is so high, use magnets or velcro attached to the tank top and the screen maybe? Thank you for the compliment Tank is drilled with one return. As far as I know the back side of ADA tanks are not tempered so it is possible to drill them. I had a buddy do it for me. The overflow is a GH 300GPH overflow. You can buy the whole kit which includes the Overflow, Bulkheads/Gaskets/Elbow and the Return with a Bulkhead and Gaskets. My return is a Rio 1100 which is just enough flow for my tank. Overflow: IMG_4739 by Anthrax15, on Flickr Return: IMG_4741 by Anthrax15, on Flickr Link to comment
Anthrax15
Update time Got tired of pushing snails in the tank at night and waking up to long streaks of water down the sides. Went and bought a BRS DIY Netting kit. Works out really well too! Pretty simple to build. In celebration of putting the net on, I went out and bought three new fish. Two tiny Misbar Clowns and a Firefish. The first hour was general nipping and such but everyone has settled in nicely. The Firefish defintely holds its own. All fish thankfully eat dry food but Im supplementing their diet with DIY frozen food. Also grabbed a few SPS (Undata, Purple Rim Cap, BN, and a Green Mili) Nothing else to report.
