So I just got my order from after like 1.5 months and I just solder up 3 red 3 turquoise and 3 blue in series then hook up the 700ma 40w driver and they all blew almost instantly?

Are you sure you blew them? Its almost impossible to blow them with a 40w 700mA driver. Have you done a diode test on each LED to see if it still works?

The only way you could blow them is if they werent soldered down and a wire wiggled off and then back on.

Yep there blow I'm a IT specialist by trade so I do a bit of soldering so I know that's not the problem, tested them individualy and they don't work and there black at the diode now

This is the end that the driver was attached to and the one that dosnt look blow dosnt turn on

In that case, check the output of the driver with a voltmeter. It seems like the driver is no good and cooked the two LEDs it was attached to. :o

Im not sure what you were doing with the wiring there. Can you take a picture of the full string? This picture doesnt look right. Each of the stars should have 2 solder pads wired not 4 unless you were doing something fancy.

Your problem is that you can't run through an LED twice like you're doing in the bottom LED, and the top two LEDs only have one wire soldered to them, so the circuit is not complete and they will not light.

Only use one of each polarity pad on each LED, and each LED has to go in series unless you are doing parallel strings, which will cut the amperage in half with each split (on a 700ma driver you don't want to do this at all).

Wire them like this:

I think you soldered them wrong.........

lol i don't understand this one either, it looks like there is too many connections.

Nevermind I figured out my problem(me), guess u don't learn without blowing a few leds here and there. Got to order some leds now, kinda need to finish this quickly so goona order from another site but thanks for the order and the amazing customer service I got!- still got my uv, xte and my driver so all is not lost!

rapid led as deep red, but no turqoise. I think they have cyan though, which isn't all that far off from turqoise if you ask me.....

I would not tell people that I was an IT specialist and then show a picture of that failed wiring.

It is a nice solder job though... much better than the doo-doo holding my wires on.

Lol Self image is not something Im vain about and I deal with software not soldering stuff on a day to day, just over the years I'm soldered a lot of random things

DIY driver I'm useing for a special led project on mine

I see how it is. I will admit that i was kinda nervous when hooking mine up. I do hope for your case that the driver is still ok. While I do think your wiring was comical, I don't laugh at the loss of it though. I do hate to see anyone burn up some LEDs that they bought to save money in the first place.

One thing, don't spend to much time checking your strands by plugging them in. I had to re solder a few spots on mine and had a wire hooked up backward. I didn't cook anything but I though I had. Just double and triple check before giving power.
