d0lph1n
I got inspired by the Tunze foam extraction unit for 9020.140. I've been working on one for my 9002. I used Home Depot parts (black pvc tube that perfectly matches the tunze tube's diam.), acrylic sheet, heatgun, saw, glue gun, loctite gel superglue, Dremel. It's fairly easy to make and it shouldn't cost more than $10 if you have the tools. Before I glue the last pipe and start testing it please let me know if you have any suggestions or if you know somebody who built one or uses the Tunze unit. MeepNand
Why not just drill a hole in the collection cup and have a tube lead down to a 2 liter bottle? Link to comment
TheWAND
Why not just drill a hole in the collection cup and have a tube lead down to a 2 liter bottle? This eliminates the collection cup, giving the skimmer a more slim profile. Link to comment
d0lph1n
Why not just drill a hole in the collection cup and have a tube lead down to a 2 liter bottle? It would have been too easy.....and you haven't read my Advantages vs Disadvantages post This eliminates the collection cup, giving the skimmer a more slim profile. Right, it eliminates it which is an unpleasant thing to look at IMO, also, I needed a smaller "collection cup" because I'm trying to fit my tanks in an IKEA bookshelf...not an easy task...I'll post photos as soon as it's done. d0lph1n
this im going to have to try. really awesome idea. Cool, let us know how it's working for you. Tip #1: Keep the same exact distance down to 0.1mm (if possible) from the lower part of the black tubing to the lip as in the Tunze cap (mine was of by 1.7 mm and made the skimmage adjustment harder) Tip #2 Don't glue the lip until you did tip #1.
