those rics are sick. where you get them at?

Thanks. I got it from reef_pets on ebay. When I got it there was only 1 mouth and it was quite tiny. It now is almost split in two and is forming a third mouth.

Need some advice here.

The chalice you see in the picture above is starting to turn white around the edges. The picture doesn't show it as I don't have an updated pic showing the white.

I have since moved it from half way up the tank to the bottom under some of the LR.

I checked my water parameters tonight and here are the results:

Nitrates - 20

Phosphates - 0

Calcium - 400

KH - 107.4ppm

Other than the Nitrates being a bit high, anything look unusual to you all?

This is my first attempt keeping chalices and I'd really like to keep them alive.

it's getting hot out, what has been the temperature of the tank?

I'm on Ohio, heat isn't an issue here ;)

Tank maintains between 76-78

Just ordered new corals!

First time ordering from Pacific East Aquaculture, but I saw the Acro Pack they had on sale and couldn't pass it up.

Here is what I ordered:

I picked this stuff up yesterday to use to raise my dKH:

Kent-Marine-ProBuffer-dKH-8oz-99.jpg

It calls for 10ml per 40 gallons.

Being that my tank is 55 gallons, I calculate that to mean I need 10ml + 3.75ml for a total of 13.75ml.

I assume others have used this before? I am just afraid to put that much in at once as I don't want to kill anything. However that is what the directions say to do.

Any help would be appreciated.

You should test everyday you dose for about a week until it stabilizes at the level you are looking for.

I doubt 13ml will get you anywhere Though.

Well here's the thing, you have low calc and low dKH, right?

A 2 part like 2 fishies A and B would be a better solution as it would work on both.

Have you checked your mag?

I have not checked mag. Don't have a test kit. Probably will pick one up.

Do you all recommend Salifert or Red Sea for Mag test kits?

Also, I picked up a magnesium buffer and a calc buffer too. I dosed calc yesterday and dKH today. Haven't checked levels again though.

So I went today after work to pickup a Mag test kit from SaltyCritters in Vermilion, OH (cheaper than ordering online and having it shipped).

I had the intention of only getting the test kit and maybe a small frag (or two).

Well.....Let's just say that I scored big!

I picked up 3 frags, and (what I consider) an AWESOME colony (I think it can be called that)!!!!

I believe the colony is called a superman montipora.

Pics to come later.

You can't score a superman and not post pictures even before you scored it!

My apologies :P . First time finding one and didn't know the proper protocol.

I took the time this morning before work to remove the frags from their holding cell and put them in place in the tank. Figured I'd do it while the lights were off and everything was asleep.

Also, I was going to take better pics with the DSLR, but then realized the battery was no charged. So now that will happen tonight instead :).

Cute cat. My cat was obsessed with my tank at first. Now he has more fun biting open my jugs of distilled water.

Good point, we need more pics of the kitteh too.

Here is one from when I first got her (don't judge the Miller Lite...it was a phase :))

Quick question/help needed please:

I just got in a shipment of corals that will be going in this tank. However I am at work for another 8+ hours.

I do have my other tank here, but it just finished the cycle.

Which of the following should I do:

  1. Should I leave the corals in the bags in the box ?
  2. Should I float the corals in the bag inside my tank here to keep warm?
  3. Should I remove from the bag and place inside my tank here and then bag them back up when time to go home?

Link to comment

Thanks! That is what I ended up doing.

The more I thought about it, the more it made sense to just let them float to stay warm.

What's in the bag of goodies? You leave them floating in the tank with the bag. That's what you should do

Would she drink the beer? My old cat Tiki would get into my beer any time I'd leave it on the coffee table. I'd come into the room and he'd have his tongue half way down the neck of the bottle--icky. He preferred MacTarnhans and Fat Tire.
