They do it to keep the little guys in business. inTank, for example, probably wouldn't purchase MP pumps in the quantities that DFS, Marine Depot, and Premium Aquatics could or would. With the greater quantities purchased the aforementioned businesses would receive a greater discount with which they could afford to discount their pumps. Without MAP pricing the little guys are priced out of the game. That is why they do MAP pricing.
