Aquarium Specialty now has both color options of our new PR-25 available to order! For those of you who don't know, the PR-25 is an LED pendant using our 2nd generation Power LED™ emitters @ 2watts each, packing a great deal of PUR into a very efficient LED pendant. The PR-25 is not similar to other PAR38 lights, which are spotlights, it is designed for more even illumination, similar to a halide pendant.

Take care when switching from other lighting sources to the PR-25 pendants. You'll want to suspend the pendant approximately twice the distance of your current lighting to avoid bleaching, and slowly lower it over a period of two weeks if necessary.

Aquarium Specialty now has both color options of our new PR-25 available to order! For those of you who don't know, the PR-25 is a 150w MH pendant replacement using twelve of our 2nd generation Power LEDô emitters @ 2watts each, packing a great deal of PUR into a very efficient LED pendant.

Take care when switching from other lighting sources to the PR-25 pendants. You'll want to suspend the pendant approximately twice the distance of your current ~150w halide or equivalent to avoid bleaching!

Very nice. Especially the one with 2 UV leds.

Looks good! What tank is that? Btw, you are going to see an explosion of coralline growth...nothing I've tested grows coralline like our PR-25s!

Very interesting product. Any idea if there are any automated dimming devices/timers out there to use with this thing? If you know of any, that would really allow you to fully utilize the capabilities of such a bulb.

Thank you for the kind words.

Did you mean for creating dawn/dusk effects? Honestly, coral don't even have the capability to recognize dawn/dusk effects. All they are aware of is the photosynthetic compensation point or lack thereof, so this isn't something we really considered. We're purists here at Orphek, and make lights for corals, not for aquarists. :)

The dimming circuitry was installed in this line as nano aquarium sizing varies wildly, and since these units emit such a high amount of PUR, we wanted them to still be useful for smaller nanos and picos.

I would love to know where you got those fixtures from i am having a seriously hard time finding fixtures that will work with my setup I see you have two and a moon glow on your tank with your dimension being some what close to mine(Bio cube29....it's roughly 20x18) I have to ask with out having two par25's would you loose over all display brightness I haven't had a chance to install mine yet (I'm trapped out at sea working) and with the large wait on ship time(about 2 weeks for me to my home address) should i just order another one

also I have herd that this light is not necessarily a 150w replacement when it come to the display brightness of a 150w metal halide but it does have the pur of it so does that mean you now have to put the equivalent of a 300w worth of metal halide pur on such a small tank to compensate for brightness

and how bright is the moon light at night if you have pics

Hi, the fixtures are from Ikea and called LERSTA.

This is a picture of just running 1 x Orphek PR25 in the middle and nothing else to give you an idea of brightness over a 24" x 16" x 12" area.

1_x_OrphekPR25.jpg

This is a picture of just the Orphek PR-ML7 Moonlight running in the middle.

1_x_OrphekPRML7.jpg

This is an up to date picture of the 2 x Orhpek PR25's running on the outer fixtures as normal.

Hope this all helps.

Orphek PR-25 - this is very interesting. I wonder what would the growth benefits vs any added algae blooms would be compared to my current 40 watt?

hey,
Anyone have one of these hovering over a Biocube 29? is just one bright enough for a 29 gallon?

Thanks!

I can't remember the dimensions of a BC29, but likely you'd want two. See the Orphek PR-25 product page for more info

How's everyone been finding the bulbs on their tanks? Able to get any SPS growth? Clams? Pics would be sweet!
