linbeg
Has anyone used PETCO'S Nature's Ocean Marine White Sand before? Is it safe for a reef aquarium too, because i was wondering why it was cheaper. I'd use this and seed it with some of my old system's live sand, would it work? Or should i just stick with their Caribbean sand or something? Link to comment
DK_Reef
I got the same question. I heard to stay away from LS and just use whatever BS you like, which for me would be the PETCO white sand they got. The LR should colonize the sand making it LS I would rather spend the extra money on LR Link to comment
7digits
I had some of that sand in my last tank. I didn't like it. It is very fine, and blows around easily. FWIW If you have a Petsmart near you, they have more of a selection of saltwater stuff, especially sand and salt. Me myself, I'd go for some sand that's a little larger. Link to comment
Llamaguy
If it's what I remember, it's not a calcium based sand. It won't help buffer pH at all. And it is a very fine sugar sand that you will hate forever until you take it out. Link to comment
Deano
I agree way to fine. If you have a Petsmart near you check them out. Here they sale Aragonite Aragamax Select .5 - 1mm diameter, it is perfect. Link to comment
coolwaters
people have used white calcium sand in the reptile section. personally over time it'll look very dirty. u need a extremely low ph level for the sand to buffer the water. sand just contains a lot of beneficial bacteria and other critters. and it looks more natural. Daleo
Ya, don't get it... it blows around like crazy, and DEFINITELY don't get "black tahitian moon sand" Try to get plan ol' aragonite. Dry is best, because it's cheap and there is nothing "live" about other sands Link to comment
Dizzle21
they have this sand its called coral sand by tideline. they have it at my petco and its in a small bag but its nice sand its not to small ,has a nice texture, and its cheap. and yes just seed it with live sand Link to comment

Yes it is junk. It will blow all over the place. Don't try and save a few bucks on things like that. Link to comment
rafastank727
Why don't just get the best sand out from premiumaquatics.com. Tropic Eden is so nice and clean and shipping is only $8.99. Link to comment
