Marcoc88
My nerite and nassarius snails have been breeding like rabbits and laying eggs all over the tank. Has this happened to anyone else, and what are the chances of these critters hatching/surviving. I do not have any fish in my tank, only inverts and corals. Link to comment
Mr. Microscope
Yup. This is normal. You'll see some eggs once in a while and none at other times. The odds of them surviving to maturity are very very low, especially if you have a filter going. Likely they'll just get sucked up. Dwarf ceriths, on the other hand are known to breed a lot in captivity. Ask Newman about that. Link to comment
.Newman.
yes like micro said, sometimes vry few will survive, especially if they have a lengthy veliger stage. but who knows, you may see some baby nassarius and nerite snails some day. i figure nas snails more likely than nerites. nerites do have that lengthy veliger stage. GiantBen
I occasionally see baby nerites in my tank. Link to comment
mattman72
Mine took about 3 months to go from eggs to actual snails with shells (though tiny still) I'm not sure exactly what kind of nerites they are, but I got them from reefcleaners, so probably the same ones that he breeds with no problem and sends to everyone. aviator300
I just found the exact same thing in my Picotope. Approx 2mm round white spots on the glass. I figured thats what they were. I will see if any survive. Maybe i'll get into the snail breeding business. LOL Link to comment
