Anyone in the Louisville area? Just curious, wondering if they ever have any frag swap meets or just meetings/ conventions of any sort in the area?

I am in Lexington. I know there is a Reef Society up there but I haven't really looked into it. There is also http://www.kyreef.com/phpbb/ , but again I haven't really looked much into it.

I'm in Louisville as well. Just returning to the hobby after several years absence. I have seen nothing about any clubs in the 'ville, but would certainly be interested. Maybe we can start something up? LOL, I travel with my job so frequently have little time to attend any meetings or such, but never rule anything out.

I'm in Louisville and I know of only one club, the Louisville Marine Aquarium Society. I don't know a whole lot about them but they do have some frag swaps every now and then. Check out their site for more info, it's lmas.org.

My family is already telling me I have issues. I just bought my first salt tank a 20 extra tall and I am already considering upgrading (I am not sure that I too into the extra tall tank). I bought a 14 buicube online from petco w/ stand and well I can only get store credit for the stand since I bought it through Amazon (lesson learned). Well I am going to return them and considering they are having the $1 a gallon I am thinking of snatching a 40 gallon to hold on to until I can fully upgrade. Maybe even use the 20 as a refugium? I love it. I am going to wait until I give my newfound hobby a test run with my 20 though. But if I can buy a 40 for $40, why the hell not? I do have access to my family's old 55 that was used for fresh water but it isn't in the most pristine condition. Plus it's so damn long,

Sorry about the novel. Good to know. Maybe we'll all meet up at some sort of SWAA (Salt water addicts annonymous) one day. If there is every a convention or something consider me there.

Thumbs up on the SWAA and the convention! Needed already here. Used to have a 55 set up and loved it. Had two clarkii clowns and a mertensii anem that were the focus of the tank. That was my first salt tank and have been hooked ever since. Still have a 55 FW, but there is just no comparison between the two...

Well 2 or 3 weeks I bought a nice 25 gallon kit that was set up for fresh water. I have a bunch of tetras in there and it is nice to watch but I find myself spending more time starting at the salt tank that has nothing but 6 hermits and 2 snails in it haha.

I've started to go to aquatica more since the new ownership. Old owner was kinda douchey. I bought all my lr and sand and a bunch of other things from him and was just a complete ass during the entire transaction. And always acted like you were bugging him..

New dude is super helpful and the place has been immaculate since.

Definitely a good dude. He has told me about his time at Sandy's and other experience elsewhere. Has been around the block a few times it seems like lol.

What is your set up like, spec?

I live in the other ville...... Evansville. And we have absolutely nothing, zip, zilch, nada, as far as SW LFS or clubs.

I feel like I'm out in the wilderness just wandering......

There southern Indiana members of the club. I just started the club to meet other hobbyist and share and help each other.

I am watching a members 400 gallon reef system while he is away for Christmas. He knows I will take good care of his system.

You can join our Facebook group and work on starting an Evansville club I am sure their are others that would love to share and enjoy the hobby with you.
