Volcom
Cool crab I like it a lot. I am going to set up a 10 gallon tank in the next month to go on my desk. I really like yours and it has been an inspiration and given me some ideas. I have one question though... Is the standard 10 gallon 20 inches? I am almost certain of the length and I need to be sure just so I don't order the wrong lights. I really want the Power Compact moon-lights. Its 64 watts total and then a moon-light. Anyway, what I am going to do is set it up with some nice corals and no fish. Then, when I get it stocked how I want it I am going to add a mantis. Sound good? I know I cant keep anything but I do not want fish and I don't mind not having any invertabrates. I am not going to add a skimmer due to money but I am going to try and add as little waste as possible so I hopefully will not need one... I have another question... Your rock in that tank looks very very good. I am pretty sure you said it was Fiji but it doesn't look anything like mine. I was wondering if you got it online and if so...where? My rocks in my current tank just look like an ugly pile but yours are very nice. Any help would be great. Link to comment
Acoustic
Thanks Volcom! Is the standard 10 gallon 20 inches? It is 20 and 1/4 inches including frame. I was wondering if you got (rocks) it online and if so...where? I got it at Tri-City Tropical fish in Oceanside, CA. I suggest buying live rock from a LFS because you can see it, pick out the best looking rocks, and measure it. I strongly suggest saving money and buying a skimmer. I have a crappy Prizm and they only cost $75 bucks. I feel that a skimmer is the only way to "sterilize" your water and maintain nutrient levels for long term success. Live sand and Live rock are not meant to be a filter. They are only the vessel for reduction. Lastly, mantis shrimp do ALOT of damage and have the potential to create a large puddle of water in your place. I do admire thier behaviorisms and beauty. But just like blue ring octopusses, they should be left in nature. There are so many endless options you can go without fish. If you have your heart set on a mantis like shrimp than I suggest going with the pistol/goby combo. Thanks again and good luck. Link to comment

Volcom
I need some of your help Acoustic. I am not sure on the mantis anymore but I still want to keep a wide veriety of corals. I want a nice lighting setup but want something that mounts directly on the tank. I was wondering if this would work... http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod...2035&in_merch=1 It is 2x32 watt. Do you think 64 watts will be sufficient in keeping a variety of nice corals. Since I am getting a skimmer for the tank I want to be able to keep a bunch of things besides mushrooms and polyps. If you have any other mountable lighting suggestions please let me know. Thnx Link to comment
Volcom
P.S. I know this is a pretty lame question but I was wondering how tall your 10 gallon is. The Aqua C Remora skimmer requires the tank to be 12.75 inches tall. Link to comment
Acoustic
T?@7 - What could be wierder than a green llama thing running backwards? hurley675 - Not yet but soon. I have the next two days off. Volcom - From my knowledge and experience that light setup will be more than good for all softies and LPS corals in a standard 10 gallon tank. The tank is 12 and 1/4 inches tall. Link to comment

Acoustic
The crab cost me 12 dollars and I actually got it at Petco. I went in to buy some frozen krill for my shrimp and the stars were aligned in the heavens. Of all places............. Link to comment
darwin604
Nice lookin' crab. What do they eat? I've been considering an emerald crab (for looks and to get rid of some hair algae) but I like the look of that one a lot more. d. Link to comment
