heuerfan
I love your monti's caja, such nice growth! My purple one is growing kinda of funky i think its because is directly under the aquaclear. How much flow is the monti under (the one in the first pic)! Link to comment
caja
Center of tank between the return and the PH so it gets a kind of cross directional low flow. Link to comment
Brooklyn Johnny
I never realized how many montis I have in my 10 g until this thread. Here's some pics of the montis I've got... in the first pic, which is actually of my cleaner shrimp on my acropora cerealis, contains three of my montis, including a purple tip brown digitata, a red digitata, and an encrusting highlighter yellow that may be montipora aquetuberculata. Here's a link to a thread where I had to frag the encrusting guy... fragging link Link to comment
Brooklyn Johnny
Montipora hispida that has nice green polyps... Link to comment
Brooklyn Johnny
An orange capricornis that came from our club president, who received it from Sanjay Joshi's Penn State tank... Link to comment
Brooklyn Johnny
This is a horrible shot, but this a pink plating monti I have growing towards the back of the tank... Link to comment
Brooklyn Johnny
A tan digitata that's not too colorful but has an interesting fine branching growth form. Link to comment
Brooklyn Johnny
A better shot of the encrusting yellow before I hacked it apart... Link to comment
Brooklyn Johnny
Out of focus in the pic but you could see the purple tip digi to the right... Link to comment
Brooklyn Johnny
This is a 9" long wild colony of I believe montipora peltiformis that is in my 65 gallon getting baked under DE 250s and has lavender polyps... this was a diamond in the rough I found at a LFS... Link to comment
Brooklyn Johnny
This is not my pic, but I got a piece of this green bodied red polyped digitata that's about 3 inches... Link to comment
Brooklyn Johnny
Lastly, about two months ago I finally got a piece of my all-time favorite coral... this Montipora danae. It was about the size of a pea, but it's a fast grower and did not lose any of it's color after fragging... I'll post a pic of my mini colony soon... Link to comment
birdman204
Johnny, what do I need to do to get a piece of those last 2!!!!!!!!!! and that diamond in the rough, nice. everything is nice. i remember the frag link too. Link to comment
Brooklyn Johnny
Thanks Birdman... to answer your question... as it is with everything in this hobby you need either connections or a fat wallet. Luckily in the case of those montis I had the former. If you're willing to shed the dough you can get them at http://www.exoticreefs.us/, but they're a pretty penny at $60 and $75, and those two sell quickly when available. When I have some frags I'll keep you in mind now that I have a frag tank on my new system... Johnny Link to comment
caja
Johnny those are absolutely stunning. And what's really neat...hehe...I live near you. I smell frags. Link to comment
birdman204
And you keep in mind that I have a fat wallet . Seriously though, those are some seriously nice specimens and I would love to be able to spread them around the reef world. Link to comment
