Twinn
Still loving that tank can't wait to see pictures with some SPS. Just wondering if you are happy with your Protein Skimmer and if you can give the dimensions of your overflow box? Thanks Quote Link to comment

Just wondering if you are happy with your Protein Skimmer and if you can give the dimensions of your overflow box? Thanks Your SPS request may be just around the corner. Actually I think my protein skimmer is overrated for my tank, so it doesn't actually produce a ton of/consistent skimmate. . I have been thinking about downgrading for awhile now. I think it's a great/solid skimmer, but just too much for my tank. Quote Link to comment
Sushi
I'm surprised you didn't get a custom acrylic sump. Quote Link to comment
Tigahboy
So it begins... Starting off my SPS phase with an easier SPS - a nicely shaped monti cap. Not super red, but hoping it will color up. T5s, do your stuff! Full sized FTS... Edited November 10, 2009 by Tigahboy Quote Link to comment
rroselavy
Was gone for the weekend and looks like a few nerites went walking around the outside of my tank (found trails and a few dead ones on the floor). I now avoid Nerites for this reason. I have had several do the same thing. Quote Link to comment
Twinn
I noticed on the picture of your sump you have a tee off of your return line, what is the tee going to? Quote Link to comment
Nemo Niblets
SPS! I'm getting excited... Quote Link to comment
Tigahboy
I noticed on the picture of your sump you have a tee off of your return line, what is the tee going to? Just to reduce how much flow goes up to the display. I was also planning to run a reactor from the T, but never got around to setting one up. Quote Link to comment
timdanger
what do you have in that clip-on breeder net? LR rubble? also, is that big fan UL listed? does it get wet from condensation? i've been thinking about upgrading my sump fan to something larger and am looking for ideas. Quote Link to comment

It's a Holmes brand clip-on fan. I don't see much in terms of condensation. The breeder net has mostly rock rubble and reef disks, ready to use in case I frag anything. I also have a healing maxi mini nem in there. Quote Link to comment
Tigahboy
My thread doesn't seem to get as much of a response without maxi mini photos... so hope this satisfies you folks! Haha. And now some other photos. Some actinic shots. Quote Link to comment

Tigahboy
never see those colours over here That's too bad. I think we are pretty lucky over here in US/California. Aside from colors, how's the selection of corals in the UK? Quote Link to comment

13eardy
Stunning tank, i'm loving the clear back panel with no clutter behind it, really sets the whole thing off. I'm in love with them especially, cannot wait to see this develop! Quote Link to comment

Nemo Niblets
I'm thinking about getting a tank 36" long 18" deep and 21" tall. It's pretty tall so it'll be tough to aquascape, but you have plenty of open water at the top and it looks fantastic. If you could choose this tank or a 40 breeder which would you pick? I'm thinking that I could do the exact same scape in the taller tank than the 40 breeder and just have a couple inches of open water like you do. Quote Link to comment
Tigahboy
I think I'm partial to the 40g breeder. It's just easier to aquascape and better light penetration to the bottom with shallower tanks. That's just my personal preference tho and please don't let me influence your decision if you like the larger tank. But on the flip side, you can fill up all that extra space with some nice, big SPS. Room for growth was a factor in keeping my aquascaping low as well. Quote Link to comment

If I can get that for a decent deal then I think I will go with the taller tank, and just leave room for growth like you said. Quote Link to comment
Tigahboy
Bad news, guys! I'm having a hard time keeping my acans happy where they are. I think they are getting too much direct flow. Already lost an acan recently and a couple others look really pissed at the moment. I moved them to my sump where they can get some relief from the flow and lights for the time being. Everything else looks fine tho. Sucks. Hopefully those 2 acans pull thru. I need to rethink what to do with my acan garden. I don't really have a lot of options in terms of moving them to other locations. Oh, and the favia/war coral that got stung to hell by the acan.... that guy didn't make it. R.I.P. favia. Edited November 16, 2009 by Tigahboy Quote Link to comment
