KamDesai
Check out my tank pics at: Kam's Eclipse 12 Page Beware, I can't get my white balance right and my camera really does no justice to the beautiful range of colors the tank exhibits. Let me know what you guys think. I am always looking for new ideas and suggestions. Link to comment
jdsabin1
Very nice! Love those blue shrooms and your sun coral looks great! Link to comment
KamDesai
Thanks Jeff! Your eclipse 12 pictures got me into the hobby. I am thinking about taking out one of the shrooms since they are so huge and putting in some other bright colored zoos or rics. Layout wise, I am not sure if I have done a good job, but it's hard to fit more into the tank at this point. Link to comment
myelin
Looking good fellow Eclipse 12 owner! Link to comment
phishhead
Kam, Looks great! when you bought your cup coral did it look as good as it does now?? Mine is sickly and i'm hoping when my calcium levels get stable they'll perk up. any advise in reviving the cup coral? Thanks, JB Link to comment
KamDesai
Is cup coral the same as Tubestra? Anyways, thanks for the response. My tubestra does really well when I feed it every day or once every two days. It really needs direct feeding on a strict schedule to really start opening up. I take mine out of the tank in a tupperware and feed it so that the shrimp/crabs/fish don't eat the food before the tubestra has a chance to get it down. I feed the tubestra Prime Reef frozen foods and carefully feed each head. If your polpys aren't opening at all, you can try putting it in a tupperware as mentioned and just letting some food float around. It should coax it to come out. Let me know if you have any other questions. I don't think the ca level matter too much for this particular coral. Link to comment

I too like the blue Mushrooms Excelent job with the aquascaping im very jelous. What did you pay for the ric? just wonderin cause I live in Cincinnati Ohio and all the prices are killer out here due to shipping. In Envy, Ben Link to comment
KamDesai
Hello. Thank you for the positive remarks! I have pumped some cash into it, and the ric was $30 a head. It was a rip off, but they were something I really wanted. Thanks again! Link to comment
Nanodan
Very nice tank Kam awsome setup of LR and coral placement. I am still new to the hobby but am enjoying it greatly. Link to comment

KamDesai
update: bubble coral went nuts and killed the frogspawn, xenia, and tried to get some zoos before I moved him. I moved him much higher in the tank with NOTHING around him. The next day he expanded to about 3 times the size he ever was before. I guess he just needed room to open up fully. I am going to take him back to the LFS and get a smaller one when I get a chance. Link to comment
jdepp
nice tank! i heard that bubble corals are pretty agressive not too sure myself just what i've heard Link to comment
KamDesai
My bubble was not aggressive at all for the first 4-5 months. I hardly ever saw any sweeper tentacles longer than 1 inch. But now, the guy has 20+ sweepers that are about 6 inches long. He can basically sting anything in the tank. I finally ended up taking him back to the LFS and got a smaller one with a green tint along with an open brain. I will post some new pics soon. Link to comment
12Gallon
I realize this thread is an older one but I'm new with a 12 gallon eclipse so I've been sitting here reading everything I can, my tank is in it's cycle at this point and I really hate to act stupid but I guess I am, LOL. Seeing your tank has given me hope but I really know nothing about clean-up critters so I was curious on what you have in yours for clean-up if you don't mind me asking. I know what they are but I'm not sure on how many of each is enough for a 12 gallon. Thanks for your time. Also do you run your carbon 24/7 or no? Link to comment
KamDesai
Hello. I know you must be dying to add some livestock! The cycle was probably the hardest thing to go through in this whole hobby for me. I have 3 blue leg hermits, and about 7 astrae snails. You may want to up the hermits if you have a lot of hair algae. I run carbon 24/7 as well as a phosphate pad to keep phosphates down and lower the algae growth. I recently also added a bubble tip Anenome which I am really excited about. My clown is interested in it, but still hasn't dove in. Let me know if you have more questions. Link to comment
matthewruno
eww.. windows XP... sheesh.. Come on! Buy a mac! Link to comment
KamDesai
I don't bother with Macs. Update on tank: I believe I overfed the anemone last night. I gave him an entire formula one cube. He started eating away at it, but before I went to sleep, I saw he was starting to "throw up" a lot of the food. I just thought these were his antics and he would eat it all later....the next morning, the tank is all hazy/milky/cloudy and all the corals are closed up. The anemone doesn't look like it is dying, rather it is just unhappy. I quickly checked the ammonia and nitrites and found they were sky high. Ammonia was at about 1.25 ppm. I did a 30% water change (thats all I had at my house) and retested. There was hardly any change. So I was forced to go buy some Amquel+ to get rid of the ammonia and nitrites quickly without killing off all my corals and fish. I also put an extra powerhead in to increase waterflow to the anemone. Things are looking pretty good now. The anemone looks normal again and nothing seems to have died. I guess the moral of the story is, don't overfeed your anemone and watch him as he eats so you can suck out any food he may not eat or throw up. Link to comment
