neuwave
Alright, I've never posted anything before about my tanks just chatted about nano-reefs in general. So today I'm finishing my DIY "filteration" acrylic boxes. So here it goes. I put epoxy on the bottom of the stand to prevent any splashes (Salt spray) to erode the bottom of the stand. scarfish
Looks good so far. I was hoping to see rocks, and if thats a Seaclone skimmer, they aren't very good. Will be tagging along. Link to comment
neuwave
Lol Nice eye. I am just using it for the first week or so. That is an orginal sea clone from back in the 90's. I got it cause I saw Sea world orlando using it to raise newly hatched cat sharks. I was able to go behind the scenes during a marine biology event. So then I had to have one. lol I have build more into the stand just moment ago. I'll have to get a few more pics later on but I have a Aquac 180 in the mail I'll be able to hook up. Suppose to be here within the next couple of days. Ooh and you wondered about rocks. No problem I'll have the aquascape up and running within the next day. I just moved and the already cycled live rock, fish, inverts, corals etc.. are waiting in temp tanks all over the living room/counters/chairs/ everything else. Link to comment
neuwave
Well I've been waiting and waiting for a digital camera to use to take some pics but it seems like any decent pics are gonna have to wait a while. But my tank is slowly building and wanted to see what everyone thought of the progress. So I took out the ole verizon phone cam and took some pics (verizon envy) - so don't be too harsh on my photography. I have a old slr 35mm camera and I just might have to go out and buy some film. Anyway here are just a couple of phone pics. Clown with his 2 bubble nems. The new bubble nem that is white with pink tips. My new ORA red planet in the middle, a green birdnest on the left, and a red acan. Wish I had a better camera cause the acn so much more red in person. But hope you guys like. Link to comment
smokey_the_bear
thats not bad with a phone! nice Link to comment
lakshwadeep
Are you feeding the anemones? The second one looks bleached. Link to comment
neuwave
Yeah I thought it might be bleached as well but my LFS has one just like it and the disk is now over 13 inches across and doing great. Just in case that it has alittle less photosynthetic algae in it I do feed it: squid, shrimp, clam and scallops. It has grown alittle (bout 1/4 inch around the diameter) added to disk since I got it. neuwave
Just a tank shot. The top right rock is gonna be trimmed down alittle and re-done. Going to reduce it and put it closer to the top right corner. Probably do it tomorrow. Ignore the coral to the top left. It wasn't apart of my orginal design. Its just a coral that i'm trying to bring back. We'll see. Anyway got a point and shoot camera to borrow and trying to get some good pics. I'll play with it some more but gonna try some more to get some crisp pics in the future. For now this is what it takes. Any comments? Link to comment
neuwave
So no thoughts? Anyone? Link to comment
BKtomodachi
I worry about that anemone. It is not a case of having more of less algae- it does not appear to have any. Link to comment
neuwave
Whether or not is has any or not. Like I said I do feed it clam, squid, scallop and shrimp just in case. It's also growing and growing. Not much more one can do about that. So no worries. Link to comment
debbeach13
Thats an interest aquascape. I think all your pictures are fine. Some times it is just hard to get the true colors. Link to comment
neuwave
thanks I think "interesting" , I might use my 35 mm slr and take some good crisp clean pics. Takes alittle extra work, but think it'll be worth it. Link to comment
neuwave
Well haven't posted anything about my tank in a while so thought i'de grab the ole point and shoot and show some updates. Sorry about the blur, didn't clean the glass very well. I'm not liking the rockscape anymore. Got a couple of ideas but still contemplating. Also got a new little little true perc. Impulse buy but i got plenty of room for the little guy. LoL Before and after of my red acan that just keeps growing. Got it back in mid november. Before After Coco worm The new Guy! Bout time i got some pics up! Link to comment
neuwave
Anyone? Thoughts? Link to comment
neuwave
Well still no comments but i'll still keep posting untill someone peaks at my reef...lol New fiji acro from local shop. 80 bucks but well worth it. Polyps just started to come out a day or two ago. Color is starting to pick up as well since it was alittle pale at first but now the each polyp has started to grow darker purple rims. So good hope for this little guy. Link to comment
Lumptal
i think it looks pretty cool. how are those rocks balanced like that? glue? or is it mostly solid pieces? Link to comment
neuwave
Thanks. They are held together by pvc and epoxy inside the rock which was slightly drilled. Like legos. But I'm thinking about changing the aquascape. I want more depth to the tank front to back (depth is the key). So still a work in progress but I have a ton of ideas. So i'll start rescaping probably this weekend. Link to comment
akabryanhall
Hey man! your aquascape is ssiiiiiiiick. One of the dopest I've seen on here. Gives you lots of coral space with extra swimming room. Don't worry too much about peoples comments about your anemone..i've seen quite a few white specimens that have been like that for years. They do exist..although the concern can be a valid one. The most important thing is to monitor the growth of it, as well as the sticky ickyness of the tentacles. I see you've also noticed that it can take a while before you get any answers or comments! Can be a while sometimes. Not sure how I missed this but will be tagging along. Link to comment
Kraylen
Interesting set up... very on point, yet different. Link to comment
neuwave
Thanks guys appreciate it. Ya, sometimes it takes a while to see if anyone has posted anything on my thread but its cool. I don't mind, its fun still posting from time to time. My rock work is a bit different than the norm but I'm only going to make a couple small changes this week. Probably Friday morning. I'll post pics when I'm done. Hopefully i'll get some photos of my pom pom crab. I've had it for 2 years now and still continues to grow. It takes whole pieces of food right from my tongs or hand. Want to get alittle army of them in the tank in hopes of trying to see if they exhibit mating behavior. Then maybe down the road try and breed. (but that's way way down the road.) Like the challenge. So far all I've gotten my 1 pom pom to produce eggs. It had a large cluster of bright orange eggs a couple of times. Wish I digi camera back them to take the pics of the eggs. Next time I guess. neuwave
So I finally got a decent photo of my hi fin goby. But just my luck the tiger pistol shrimp scooted back into his tunnel before I could take the photo. So i'll take the goby photo for now. 1 Link to comment
neuwave
Got bored waiting for dinner to finish cooking. So took a pic of tank. 1 Link to comment
akabryanhall
That feather duster is bad azz, as is your goby acan and xenia. Link to comment
neuwave
Well, my camera kinda sucks. So I can't get the detail on my aquascape. But it will do the job. Once I get more corals in the tank it will allow the corals to grow in a canyon shape. The gray pole to the left is gonna be covered with zoas or maybe a sun coral, something that needs low-medium light since it is under a ledge. Haven't decided yet. The right ledge is not sitting or touching the base rock. Its floating above. So here it goes. 1 Link to comment
