What should the salinity be in a coldwater tank?

Im not sure what part of CA he measured at, but its virtually the same as where I live..either he lives really close, or the variance isnt that extreme, and certainly not worth debating.

Hey Coralkeeper, where at on the Cali coast are you at? I'm up in Humboldt Bay and the salinity of the bay and my tanks is 1.035 - 1.036 which i think is very saline, but everything thrives in it up here.

Salinity here is virtually the same as on a coral reef, 33-34 ppt.

 

FWIW we have several hundred thousand gallons of systems with coldwater corals, invertebrates, kelp, and fishes from Australia to South Africa to California. We keep them all in the same exact water (but colder) that we keep our tropical animals (like Acropora) in...
