Hello everyone! I am back!
After crazy move from my home New Jersey to Busan, Korea, I have finally started the nano tank again!
Even though I am a Korean American, it took me a while to get started because this place is really foreign to me. I am glad I can at least speak Korean and communicate.

Anyway, after searching and searching the net, I finally ran into korean reef site. I posted old photos of my oogiecube2, and asked where i can get some tanks and corals. It turns out there weren't many place to buy the tank I wanted, so I decided build my first glass tank with help of some glass shop person I met.
I was asking around for Starphire glass, which Korean people didn't seem to know what I was talking about. But I found out, there were low-iron glass made in Korea that was called "White Glass". So I thought, that must it and bought some sheets of it. I had glass shop cut them in 45cm square ( Yes centimeter! its driving me nuts! they also use liter instead of gallon, so when they tell me something in liter I just blank out!) or 17 3/4".

So here is some pics of cube. And i know, my silicone skills are far from good, but hey, it don't leak!

Here is shot of glass sump thats silliconed on the cabinet. I wanted to make sump as large as i can for this cabinet I am using.

I was always a big fan of durso but I just don't know where to get all the PVC fittings and such, so I thought of something different. I drilled hole on the bottom, then connect Tee fitting, so I can feed the skimmer, then I added a gatevalve to control the water height in the overflow box. Hopefully it work....

Thats all for now, and its good to be back!

I don't think it will work. I think the water will only want to travel straight down and not enter the perpendicular pipe because of gravity. But maybe if you gate it enough so that the staright down pipe won't be able to take in all the flow, it may travel to the other pipe. However, the downside to this is that you risk flooding. Someone on Sdreefs tried something similar and found out that none of the water would enter the perpendicular pipe. However, he didn't have a gate valve to control the flow.

Wow, everyone thanks so much for the reply. I really appreciate it..... al though it makes me miss US more! haha

Duncan: Here is the site. http://www.koreareefclub.com/.

EZ: 감사 감사! And no, sump is not starphire. Good ole cheap piece of green-tinted glass!

Maeda: No, I wish..... And you know, I fantasize of PVC plumbing but since I can't get any here, I went with hose for return. Bah!

Sebea: No, I sold it off.... Now I wish I would have kept it.... Duh!

Kinktao: Yes, I am using gate vlave to control the flow, so, water does split nicely..... Its just that I need to find just the right setting and yes i am scared of flooding. Thinking of using float switch to prevent flooding. Anyoe know where I can get float switches in korea? LOL

Adin, Nips: I really miss chatting w/ u in IRC...... I will try to be there more often!

Little progress..... Fresh water is added, and its been running for 20 hours. No leaks, and no flooding yet. Only salt I can get here now is Coralife salt. Anyone ever use it before?

thanks for reading!

We haven't talked, but I've been a fan of your tanks for a while now.
20H: Started March 2007

Every time your "cube" doesn't have the same dimensions on each side, a little bit of reef dies.

I'm all about suckering the noobs. I've made plenty of good money off them.

Thanks everyone!

Duncan: I wish I had Moai with me too! He was gardian of my acros! I need to look for one.

AdriftQuasar, twan: Thanks alot. That means alot to me!

Izzue: Thanks... I have been searching on the net, and some say coralife salt will kill inverts due to highly elevated something....... disturbing.....

Nips: Thanks! Check it out for me!

wav3form: Well some do, but since they are expensive in korea, people just stick with hoses.

Thanks
