Class: Polychaeta
Order: Annelida

Annelid worms are commonly called fan worms or feather duster worms, and can range from very small to relatively large ones that can extend over an inch across at the crown. Some of the fan worms of this family live in leathery tubes while others build small calciferous tubes. Fan worms exist in virtually every reef tank and filter the water through their fan to collect small bits of food. The crown may have a variety of colors present. Growth and proliferation of fan worms indicates that there is enough food in the system to support them. Dosing your tank with phytoplankton will encourage growth.
