Throttling back the pump seems to have helped significantly. That and just giving the microbubbles time to dissipate.

Alright fellas. Input on lights.

I really want LEDs and have been thinking about an AI Sol Blue w/ controller over the ATI Powermodule.

That or DIY.

Thoughts?

if you're savy a diy would be cool. but you gotta keep that ish clean you know. hid all the wires possible. build a dope ass box to hold the electronics. yea. diy ftw

I really want to go for a DIY set up but I'm terrible with electronics, which is why I was leaning towards something manufactured. I might hit up evil with a PM and see what he thinks. I need to figure out heatsink(s) sizing, type/color/amount of LEDs, driver options (gotta be dimmable), and all the other s### that goes along with it. I guess it never hurts to have a soldering iron....

Quick update:

YWG/PS pair has been added. They are going to town making tunnels and entrances.

CUC from reefcleaners.org has been ordered, should arrive in a couple days.

DIY LED light is almost underway, the thread can be found here.

Stay tuned!

The LED light is done:

I've added some corals to see how they react under the light. So far so good.

Next up is a DIY Vortech Battery Backup.

Fish count has been updated.

I'm looking at buying a new truck soon, so I won't be spending much on this tank. That means I won't be adding reactors, a skimmer, or a controller any time soon. I'll add a few corals here and there but the tank is mostly on autopilot while the growout begins.

edit: sike. skimmer and reactor added 8/11/11

Update!

Added a BM NAC7 skimmer, BRS reactor w/ GFO and carbon, and swapped the return pump for a Tunze 1073.040. My friend got a new camera so here's a few pictures.

FINALLY! Woo! I have been waiting on this update for a while.

So how are the LEDs working out for you so far?

I am digging the zoas.

the LEDs are working out great so far. The only thing that hasn't taken to them yet are the Acans, they bleached a little bit when I moved them from the 10g. They are still putting out new heads though, so they should color up soon.

Nice set up - Ben!!! Really been thinking of switching over to LED from my T-5 lights.

Do it! I don't regret the switch one bit.

I love a good overhaul. What are you thinking about changing?

Building a new stand for it and I just picked up another 40 Breeder to use for the sump. I'm going to add some more LED actinics too. I plan on having 80 watts of LED actinics +234 watts of T5s. I also want to switch a few fish out and get some schooling fish.

The stand and sump will be the biggest change, i'm not happy with my 40 gallon long sump.
