just wondering when the next pico contest was going to start....

Matt
Fishfreak218
there is not a next pico contest planned..
lgreen
It starts right now.

Tank must be 4.738843 gallons and can only use 62/31 of a watt of light.

You only have an hour to set it up though. Hurry!
Daemonfly
Probably when we get a mod that wants to deal with it tongue.gif

Nope, not a mod! cool.gif
ereefer
So super moderators when do we get a new contest?
pico1
yeah, any contests coming up?
travisurfer
how about, who can grow the largest clam in their nano. you have 7 days. wink.gif
crrichey
I still think a 20L/H contest is in order wink.gif
Daemonfly
20g long would be a nice long-term contest. I can't see it being a quick & heavily populated contest though.

The 0.75 aquavase would be a nice one. Cheap & very easy to set up. This would be better for another "quick" contest with lots of players.
halfpint
Make an entry fee of $5 so that the winner will have a prize check. Prize checks are aways fun.
firefishbrain
how bout a "kilo" not pico contest. we have to do a 450g tank, it would give me a reason to set one up... lol.
Argent
hmm I'm having fun with my quart pico -- would be cool to do that too biggrin.gif
Daemonfly
We could always do frequent, simple contests. These wouldn't be too much of a strain for the mods.

An example would be "Best 10g" and only have, say, 2 weeks of entries. Only Current pics would be accepted for nomination, and we could easily just pop them all in a single thread and use the forum voting system. No prizes unless a sponsor is feeling generous(and wants some advertising wink.gif), CM could just post up the winner on the main page. Then we could go on to the next "Best ____" contest. Best Minibow. Best Aquapod/Nanocube. Best DIY tank.
Kingofthejungle
or TotM could make a comeback.
Sushi
wow... never thought of it, but as mentioned above: a 20L/H contest would be rather interesting smile.gif
pico1
c'mon mods, let us know what's planned for the future. I can't wait for the next contest! smile.gif
kinetic
how about best 30G contest?

a lot of those oceanic cubes are getting popular.
Maeda
That actually sounds like a good idea.

Can we do a custom 30g category too? I haven't set my tank up yet...

I also think ToTM should come back. I volunteer to be incharge!
andykee
30g = toooo expensive for me!
i'll be entering the pico contest if there ever is another one
adinsxq
really?
Daemonfly
I'd have a Oceanic cube already if it weren't for the price...

Would be a lot cheaper to just build your own.
Maeda
hence 30 custom contest.

I still vote for DIY contest. smile.gif

Hello all,
I would love to enter a pico contest. I have a Mini Bow 7 as my main tank. It would be neat to set up a Mini bow 1 for a pico contest. I looked through the old contest and there were some great tanks. I have been looking for a reason to start up a pico.
Dr. Daggett
How's about a 20 gal. long contest. Those seem to be rampant on this forum and there are some great looking ones out there!!!!

boo! we need an excuse to go big.

I'm ready to put together a 50 gallon setup
pico1
MODS! Your killin us over here! Please fill us in!
el pez
the only way i see it to keep high participation in the contest is to keep the tank size small. costs will be low enough for most of us to afford it.
uk reefer
picotope contest?

or another nc 6 contest would be sick
el pez
minibow 2.5...?
thatfishguy
man Im ready to do a contest. Im about to place my order with glasscages for my pico tank but I dont want to until I hear what the next contest will be. I would love to do one thats anything under 5 gallons.
adinsxq
just throwing it out there... how about an open-anything-goes-under-5g-total-volume?
oogie
how about DIY equipment contest?

Couple cats.

1. Nano-Reef friendly MH Pendent
2. Nano-Reef friendly Filteration device. (Skimmer, refugium, etc...)
3. Nano-Reef friendly reactors. (Calicum, Kalk etc...)

Not only this contest would be fun.....
It would add valuable resource to this community.

andykee

Ummm....

1. Cheeper. (in most cases anyways!)
2. You can make it EXACTLY you want it.
3. Tons and Tons of fun!
4. Show it off in nano-reef.com!

no joke! i am getting antsy here! want to set up a small tank, but am holding off for the time being... would love to do it as a contest tank.

mods - anything in the works? same as last time? 5.5g display? maybe a september/october start?!? biggrin.gif
thatfishguy
yep, I would love to do an "anything under 5 gallons contest" I plan on ordering a 8x8x12 cube from glasscages.com for mine, or maybe a little bigger. heck it doesnt even have to have as big of prizes as the last one, I just want a reason to start a pico!
tinyreef
maybe some kind of common theme? e.g. only aquacultured corals/livestock or 75% must be aquacultured, etc. promotes "green/ecological reefing" blah-blah-blah.

maybe multiple categories again: Custom, DIY, Beginner, Advanced, Pico, Nano, etc.. the entrant could/would select the categories best suited for themselves or we can have suggested guidelines.

maybe open up the tank requirements to cover Pico (3-gallons or less) and Nano (3-gallons to 20-gallons).

sponsors could break up the sponsoring to specific categories, e.g. Coral Dynamics and Seacrop for Predominantly Aquacultured or Beginner/Advanced, dry goods sponsors could be DIY/Custom sponsors or overlap the Beginner/Advanced, etc.

or instead of monetary prizes the winner could be a featured aquarium in catalogs or something along those lines.
