Nanocustoms is growing!!!
We've been doing lots of growing here at nanocustoms and are looking forward to continuing to bring you the best products for your nano reef.
Now, we need a corporate image that portrays our brand and will provide instant corporate recognition. To this end, we have decided to open up to the creative nano-reef.com community and are offering a $1000(USD) shopping spree at nanotuners.com for the winning submission.
The logo contest will run in the following format...
• All community members are invited to submit logo design concepts for nanocustoms / nanotuners.
• The prize award for the winner of the design contest is a $1000.00 (USD) shopping spree at nanotuners.com
• Limit 2 designs per participant. Make them count!
• To enter a design , you must submit your entries to: logo@nanocustoms.com
• The nanocustoms team will then consider all entries and vote on a group of five finalists.
• The community will then be given the opportunity to vote for their favorite logo design concept from the five finalists. To preserve the anonymity of the entrants, the artists will not be named.
• We reserve the right to have the winning concept further developed by our creative team. Additionally this will allow us to formulate a style guide and versions specific to various media formats.
• The closing date for entries will be 23:59 PST Monday, July 10th.
• Finalists to be announced and the community vote will commence on 23:59 PST Monday, July 24th. All forum members will be able to vote once for their favourite logo.
• Voting will close 23:59 PST Monday, July 31th. The logo with the highest number of votes will become the official nanocustoms /nanotuners logo.
• The winner will be announced on Nano-Reef.com and nanocustoms / nanotuners web sites.
Additional rules for people wishing to enter the nanocustoms/nanotuners logo contest...
• Void where prohibited.
• All submitted work must be original and not based on any pre-exisiting design.
• If your entry produces trademark problems due to potential similarities to existing trademarks it will not be considered.
• By entering a logo design you agree to transfer the copyright on the design to nanocustoms / nanotuners should your design win.
• Entries should not contain any text other than the word nanocustoms / nanotuners. On the submission, choose either nanocustoms / nanotuners. We will use the same style interchangeably for our purposes.
Finally... And I say this as a lovingly as a member of NR, I have the last say!!! We are an intelligent group of people on this forum, and sometimes we try to read between the lines.
Also, submission of entrys to the logo@nanocustoms.com implies acceptance of the terms and conditions stipulated above.
Good Luck,
Chris

So, can we do 2 logos, and just change the name? Essentially submit to you 4 pictures, but 2 of each name.
1 design - nanocustoms, nano tuners
2nd design - customs, tuners
So we'd be submitting to you 4 images, but 2 logos.

no, you get two submissions, with whatever name you would like on it........

Are you wanting submissions as a logo/mark (b/w or 4c) or a website banner?
If some submissions are in a banner and others are not, it could sway a vote because of the banner image(s) usage and not reflect the actual logo's ability to stand alone.
Is this clear?

The logo should generally be free of backgrounds, so it can be used for different media.
When I say logo, think apple, intel, nike, etc. a symbol/wording/style, that just says "nanocustoms". Ever notice how Fedex looks similar no matter what type (express/ground/frieght/custom critical, etc). This will need to be the case for the logo submissions. It should be easily screenprintable ideally, a 4 color maximum.
nano is the heart of the nanocustoms/nanotuners family, so the trend you set for the "nano" part, will always be incorporated into our logo.
Hope this helps and good luck

LOL. But even the best of people, once they become to close to a project need a little help to see the light. Fresh eyes, new ideas, and he does have final say.
EDIT: I am a horrible speller

Lol!!!
Cause its more fun this way. I see all these people posting banners, etc, and they have great talent. The current logo is a 3am, "maybe this little hobby will work" job, and now the company has grown so much, its time to get a new logo.
I've always been a control freak/micromanager in my endeavors, and working with Nick and the others who support my team here has taught me that good things happen when you let go.
Aside from that, the fun of a contest that doesnt drain the moderators, sounds like lots of fun to me.
Good luck. Hopefully people didnt take the "final say" thing too much to heart.
Keep thinking.. The logo is out there somewhere...

hey ccjung....
Just wondering a few things. I'm formatting my entries to have a nanotuners and nanocustoms 'scheme' for each design. This still counts as just one entry right? I was planning on doing a couple~~~~
Should I sumbit .ai files? or jpgs?
ccjung
Jun 19 2006, 11:03 AM
thats correct. You can submit a total of 4 jpgs, 2 for NT and 2 for NC. They should be 2 distinct "styles".
jpg is the preferred format. If you win, we will need the psd/ai/paint

Im anxious to see the entries.
Question... Are the members of Nano-Reef the only ones able to vote or is it to the general public? Is there any way of making sure a member does not flood the the votes by having friends join just to vote.
Travis
Jun 29 2006, 07:40 PM
I'm sure you will have to be a member of Nanocustoms.com to be able to vote. Who is seriously going to make a bunch of accounts to vote once per account.
mjime714
Jun 30 2006, 12:47 AM
Not just one person making multiple accounts, but one person getting all their friends, family and others to vote even though they are not into the hobby of nano reefs.
ccjung
Jun 30 2006, 12:56 AM
Its best not to talk about the authentication methods we will be using to validate votes.
Put it this way, me and Mr. Marks are pretty good friends and have a life outside of this site that revolves around developing web applications.
There WILL be security measures in place to ensure that the votes count and are genuine members of Nano-Reef.com.
In any event. This is a contest, and the best submissions will win. Even if there is incidences of fraud, the Nanocustoms team will be screening the entrys, so its win win either way.
Good luck
