The switches are rocker switches that sit in the back of the lid. In one shot i think you can barely see them.
Another thing to note is that i think there should be some interesting additional output nozzles that could be mounted on the diagonal walls, which should make for some interesting cross flows.
They are also planning on making filtration modules that will slide into the intake plates.
Chris
1 more thing... they SHOULD be released with the rear splashguard clear.
Ike and I agreed that having a clear rear splashguard would be beneficial should a customer want a fuge light installed.

Chris, does the model you have got multiple power cords for use with timers or just the rocker switches? Is it the same on the 12g model?

If i am corrent you may have seen a different tank.
There is another tank that looks similar (oval feeding door) but sits on a 12g Nanocube Tank. I think its Aquarium World or something like that. That cube featured a hang in tank filter box, but otherwise was identical to the nanocube.
The Current USA tank is about 2-3" wider than the 12g Nanocube. Its possible that you saw it in another iteration.
If you have seen it in "current USA" boxes, that would be very interesting, but probably unlikely.
Let me know. Pics are nice too. lol

Chris,
Was wondering, personally what would you prefer to buy if you were one of your customers.... the 32 Gallon M-Tank, or the 24 Gallon Aquapod? The AP seems to have alot of bang for the buck... plus it's glass (and thick to boot)... However so many people rave about the M-Tank. As you sell both, and probably have more experience than most of us, if not all... please give me some input on this. It will be greatly appreciated.

Chris, adding on to bluebastion's question, what do you think is the best bang for the buck between the 12/24 Aquapods. I love the intense stock lighting for the 12, but the strange design of the rear chambers don't look like too much room for a fuge or does it? What are the diffrences besides just lighting and space from having both?
ccjung
Oct 28 2005, 01:52 AM
I would say that the 24 has the better fit and finish, while the 12 has the better filtration unit.
Both feature similarly designed hoods, with good ventilation which makes for some great upgrades should that be your fancy.
Tomorrow I am going to get my Lux Meter out and fire up both the Aquapods and Nanocubes I have, that should really be able to quantify the intensity of light.

Sorry guys.. These threads get hard to follow in my old age...
It really really really and really now, boils down to your love for the closed top.
If your Number 1 goal is to have a lid, no matter how silly the reason, the aquapod, nanocube, or whatever comes down the line is the one for you.
The Mtank is hugely bang for the buck. The Honda of Tanks. But you gotta accept the open top.
Looking back on this past year, its been whirlwind. I wouldnt have a Nanocube except for the fact that I have a nook in my entryway with the footprint of the cube.
I loved the look, hated the fact that the thing boiled my tank, modded it, shared, and started a little company with it.
Now I have the fun of setting up a bunch of tanks, and my loyalty still lies with the cube/enclosed setups. Now its for a different reason.. 2 Kittens!
Anyways. To each his own. The Mtank is the best bang for the buck and when I move into a bigger office later this year, I am getting myself a 20g M-Tank with HQI.
I have been talking to Finnex and they have given nanocustoms exclusive rights to mod their 32g systems. because of a center brace, the 32 will have to run 2 x 70w MH instead of the 150 on the 20.
I will be announcing these later.

Chris, if I buy the 24 aquapod presale... can I wait to get my unit until you've got some mod ready to do? That way I can just shell out the extra mod expenses later, instead of one whole shabang?
Oh, and as you mentioned about the nano's boiling the tank... is this an issue still, with the aquapods?

Yes, thats no problem. We can coordinate once the tanks land.
Go ahead and preorder and we can figure out the mods later. I am planning on diving in to the aquapod 24 next week.
The heat shouldnt be as much of an issue with the aquapod because of the reflector design, its well ventilated.

Chris,
Any chance you could give us a few of the internal dimmensions from the aquapod 24. Looking to see how big of a pump will fit...namely a Mag 7 or Mag 9. It looks as if Dimmension B is only 2".

Hey Chris, I'm seeing models of the Aquapod 24 with 70watt MH and 150watt MH, I'm assuming they are open top right? Also, does the system come with a skimmer?
i'm considering this system because I'm interested in doing a clam tank and would prefer the MH over the pc. Would the 70 work since the tank is relatively low in height?

It will be interesting to see what current does with the lighting on the 24 in future generations of the pod. The intensity is so much less than on the 12 when it comes to PC's. I wonder if they intentonally kept the wattage under 70 to intice people over to the MH version. I think that would have been a mistake. The real issue for most people is top vs. no top. I think that two MH versions (70 and 150) blow the doors off of jbj's cube but the PC version is lacking, less expensive but lacking. Of course I think that because I am a married to a top reefer (child and feline in the house = top on the reef)

You can acctually drill the appropriate sized hole into the backpannel of the aquapod and then throught the wall of the filter compartment or if you have enought head space you can put the iceprobe through a piece of plexyglass and submerge the tip in the filter compartment.

A couple of things you can do to try an relive some of the heat issues. Switch the antic and daylight bulbs so that the fan kicks on with the antics. You probably have the antics coming on firs/going off last so that will allow more of the fan running to hold down the temps.
Also try covering the empty fan slot. That can help cool things down a bit.

Thanks guys i will try this. Also what's your experience with iceprobes. How many degrees does the water comes down. I mean I live in Puerto Rico and as you all know temperature here is in the 90's almost year around.
