Hey guys
I have had the luxury of getting my hands on a preproduction prototype of the 12 gallon aquapod. The 12 and the 24 will look similar but will have some production differences, namely the filtration area.
The dimensions stated on other sites are:
AquaPod 12 gal-Deluxe 16” W x 15” D x 15” H
View of the front

Back Chambers - notice the shelf in the back and location to mount a heater. Please excuse the funk from the glue.

View of the Hood (they sent a "gutted" hood)

View of the Max config ( 6 x 24 or 5 x 24 + Fuge). Also. Note that the stock format is 28w (6 x 28) or possibly 6 x 32w . This badboy should be able to handle some power!

Surface skimmer/intake.

Detail of canopy

Hope this helps
Chris

Thanks for the preview. Do you know when they're going to start shipping?

Ship dates are still tentative as per Current USA.
They really take their time making sure the products meet their own expectations for performance and value.
I will keep the board informed, but generally the other vendors carrying the product are in the loop as much as I am.
We've been lucky at nanotuners to be offered a chance to preview the prototypes.
Thanks for your patience everyone

Just thought I should add that I emailed the company about the 24 gallon dimensions and they are 20"Lx18"Wx20"H.

I already posted this but I want to know if someone can verify this for me.
I think I need to change my order or wait for Chris to verify is the 36w fits in the Aquapod 12 canopy. As Stoney said 36watts PC lights length is 15" and the 32watts PC length is 12.5".
The dimensions on the Aquapod 12 gals are (16” W x 15” D x 15” H) according to them vs the NC 12 DX 15.8" x 13.8" x 14.8" (LxWxH). If this is true, I think the 36w hopefully will fit. If this is true, WOW! we could fit 144w the Aquapod 12 vs the 96w on the NC 12. So for the moment, I will cross my fingers.
Please, someone verify this.
The canopy looks so "modable". CurrentUSA is really designing this stuff having in mind the hobbyist needs.

I totally understand, I want to know if 2 - 18" 96 watt quads will fit in the 24 gallon (or 1 with the stock lights).

Chris,
Do you know if that skimmer intake is going to have a slide on the back to regulate water level? It looks as though the water level in the display will be very low without it.

Hey chris,
Been fence sittin for awhile wanting to upgrade
my overgrown over modded Alife7.
Can you explain to me how this "new" curved glass aquapod
is any different than a curved glass NC?
Maybe glass bent in this manner is not 100% .
I guess only time will tell.
Hope you can shed some light on this.

The hope is we can go 6 x 32 = 192W! ~1

The 24 is in my possession, but not at my shop yet. I will bring it in this weekend and get a good set of photos of it.

The 12 is fixed. The 24g has a different filtration system with multiple removable intake grate covers. Pics to come.

Glass bent in any shapes where there is a corner is a difficult and as you say, not 100%. The dimensions of the aquapod make it wider and a higher aspect ratio, from what ive been told from some sources, a wider aspect ratio reduces the stresses felt by the glass at the corners. Time will tell
Hope this helps

Are those grooves in the back panel facing front? If so, how are you supposed to get the corraline outa there? I'm imaging 3 pink stripes causing some aesthetic problems..

i called the Current USA company today on the phone, i received some good news and bad news. the good news first, the fission skimmers are arriving in warehouses starting today and are getting ready to be shipped out to the customers. The 12g Aquapods are due in supply warehouses sometime next week to be shipped to customers starting next week. The 24g wont be shipped into the US supply warehouses til around 12/20 . BUT, this was the bad news, i asked the man if i would be able to mod my hood with higher wattage retro kit, he said no, , the hoods are too small he told me.
So, i guess there goes my idea about making a mini fuge in back with a retro kit, so do you have any other ideas what i should do with my 3 chambers in back?
am i missunderstanding something with these pictures of the hood? the stock 12g Aquapod say it only comes with 2x27w PC bulbs, thats only 54w.
or is the guy from Current fibbin me and the hoods can be modded up to 100w?

Well, Chris posted some pictures of both hoods, and he even did the exercise of fitting some PC lights boxes, there is plenty space for the retro. I just ordered 4 extra 24W PC's.
Ahh, thanks for the info about the shipping date

Well, Aquapod was sent from Nanocustoms on Dec 16 and was received in Puerto Rico on Dec 21.
The packaging was awesome, here you can see the external box in were it came:

After removing the topping made of Styrofoam peanuts you can see the 2 inches gap filled with more Styrofoam peanuts on every side of the box:

Finally, on the bottom of the box you can see plastic wrap with air bubbles and more peanuts:

The Aquapod 12G arrived without a scratch to Puerto Rico, this was a great packaging method. People thinking bout buying an Aquapod should consider their vendor and packaging practices, so far I recommend Nanocustoms/Nanotuners 100%.

Chris,
Will the 2
4w internal UV sterilizer fit horizontally in the 12g Aquapod's heater space?
Thanks!

Chris et al:
Any ideas on the purpose of the shelf?
What can you put under there?
I guess it is part of the 4th chamber, but doesn't see any flow. Looks like wasted space to me.
Thank you!
