The lights still aren't here!! Yarg! stupid slow postal service...

I spent a few hours in my "workshop" yesterday and produced a hood for this bad boy. When the lights get here I can wire up the sockets, install the reflector, and stain the whole thing... I'll try to post pics soon.

Still no lights! I HATE FED_EX! They had the delevery date at the 26. I checked on the 26th, and they moved it to the 27th. Now that the 27th is gone, the delivery date still says the 27th despite the fact that the package hasn't been scanned out of the wherehouse in benicia, CA!

YArg!!!!!!!!!! Anyhow, drilling the tank and installing the overflow probably tomorow. The hood will just have to wait...



EDIT: ARGHHHH now they have taken the delivery date off of their site entierly, and the package still hasn't left benicia!

Yay lights came!!! Hood is stained and sealed, going to wire them up tonight. PICS WILL BE POSTED!

Yeah, I'm on the wrong computer for that and photobucket is sporadic about what they auto-resize. The snail pics were taken at the same settings as the tank pix, but they were the only ones that got re-sized. *shrug*

There we go! I found a setting in photobucket that lets me resize the pics online! YAY!!! It's not as nice as photoshop, but it works...

If you find a place with small nice frags in the south bay let me know would ya. And I let you know if I find somehting your looking for. I live in San Jose.

Ya, where do you guys go for frags? My personnal favorite place is Dolphin Pet Village - its a nice large store with great customer service. Price is a little high, but I feel good about supporting them.

Dolphins marine section is lacking but they do have a lot of small frags unlike most other places in the bay ( that I've been too).

I just love Dolphin pet village because of there customer service. Whats your favorite store? Lets not hijack Xytrix01 thread, but feel free to post in my thread or via pm's

Yeah, I like Dolphin, but their prices are a bit steep. I also go to a place called sun aquarium. They don't have much, but sometimes there are small frags, and the guy will sell them to ya for cheap. There's a nice store up in hayward too, but that's a heck of a drive.

"The Reptile Room", right? Ya, that place is pretty nice, but imo not worth the drive.

I'm liking Atlantis Aquarium these days for frags, and Alameda Aquatics is good too but far and hell away. I've been to Sun Aquarium and your right he has almost nothing but sometimes gets some cool frags and he is super cheep.

where is atlantis aquariums? Not farmiliar with that one....

I've added a few things to the tank. A small frag of xenia (free! ) a rock with about 6 mushrooms on it, ans my fish. I'll post pix tonight for you all to oogle. I would have done it already, but I have to clean the glass first!

That's the address for the jiffy-lube that's right in front of the shopping center. When you drive over there, you turn into the driveway right after the jiffylube building. There's also a pure water store next door where I get all my RO from.

The scooter is acoustomed to frozen brine shrip from the LFS, and he piged down a quarter of a cube last night. So I'm not too worried about him.

I bought a bunch of new corals today. Mostly zooas, and mushrooms, and I ended up with a suprise coral as well. I'll tell you all about it when I post pics tomorow. (It's too darn late tonight, and my lights already turned off.) Then we can play "What the f**k is that thing??" Cuz I sure don't know.

And finaly, the FTS

that is a manjano anemone. they are considered a pest anemone like aptasia. Who in their right mind would sell you a pest anemone as a mushroom????

I did a search on google for manjano, and all I could find was "it's a pest, kill it!" No info on why they suck, just that they can reproduce quickly. Do they sting corals or fish? I kinda like the way it looks. Is it possible that it could be a small BTA?

And as for the mushroom thing, when I got it, it was siting on the bottom of the display all curled up into a ball that was no longer that 1cm, and bright green. He seemd to think it was a baby mushroom all curled up. Needless to say it wasn't.

Ok, update time. The ananome what ever he is ate 6 brine shrimp while I was feeding my tank tonight. That was one of the coolest things I have ever seen! He used the bubles on the ends of his tenticle things to catch them from the water column, and then moved them inard to the center where he proceded to curl up around them and devour them. Then he would open back up fo another go!. WOW!

Now that he ate, the bubles on his tenticles have almost disapeared. it's interesting to say the least. I hope it ends up as a BTA, not the manjano.

I'd say just keep an eye on it and keep it. It looks cool.

Well, I'm keeping him for now. If he gets to be a problem, then I'll nuke him.

I have some alge to scrub before y'all are allowed to see my tank. I've been on vacation for the last 2 and a half weeks, so I haven't been anyware near my tank. The good news is that I got a new camera for xmas. So you should be getting some mighty fine pictures!
