CGNano
Hi everyone smile.gif, this is my stab at a 2.5 Pico.

I will be using the following items:

2.5 Gallon AGA
Coralife Digital Thermometer
2x9 watt 9" Coralife PC fixture
AC 20
Possibly a 50 watt heater for the winter
3 Pounds of LR
No Sand

Livestock:

2 Pom-Pom Crabs
Possibly a Teenie-Tiny 1" Long Derasa Clam at my LFS
Various Softies

I'll be posting pics soon ;o

I need to borrow my friend's camera tongue.gif
Tigahboy
nice. I dig those pom-poms
Sebea
I would advise against keeping a clam.
CGNano
Why? I'm experienced with clams, I can handle it.

Thanks Tigah.

I think he means that there is not enough light/space for a clam.
CGNano
I have a 55 Gallon if it grows too quickly. And, there is enough light for a Derasa.

UPDATE: I just ordered a 2x9 watt PC light fixture, heater, and thermometer from Big Al's. Should be here in a few days.
Fishfreak218
hey you found a camra to borrow...cool....good luck....im up against Tigah....and i dont know if it isnt a good light for LPS than i doubt it is for dersa's
CGNano
Its good enough for Derasas.

Also, baby clams aren't exactly dependant on Photosynthesis.
Fishfreak218
ohh yeah i forgot about that...ok he should e good then
Sebea
I wish you luck.
CGNano
Thank you very much Sebae.

I picked up my lighting fixture from the UPS Store today.

Now I can't get it onto the tank without the glass cover, which means I can't use my HOB...

Help???

Light is a 9" 2x9 watt by Coralife. HOB is an AC20.
mickey85
what I did was to use a table saw to cut a piece of plexiglass to fit the top of the tank. it's the same dimensions as a glass top, but is 2" narrower to fit the HOB.

pic of pom pom? i see one in ur sinnature but its too small..........
FishMaster1000
Word of advice, do not put the clam in the tank. It may look as if its doing fine for a few months, but really slowly starving. Just my $.02
Blind Tree Frog
Not like a clam that small is eating much from the lighting. He'll be a filter feeder at that size.
Casabubu
just spot feed him every once in a while
Sum_Reefer
Some advice on the glass top. If you want to use it they are very easy to cut with a diamond dremel bit. I cut mine for the contest and had no problems until I stepped on one. But I had a spare.

i was told by multiple people that clams are almost completely photosynthetic until they are at least 3". i think a deresa would be fine anyway under 18W of pc at less than 8" away. worst case scenario: the clam starts looking crappy and you have to put it in your 55. what do you have to lose?

Yuo have that COMPLETLY backwards.

Yuo have that COMPLETLY backwards.

Snoop's right, you have it backwards - the problem is the feeding required by baby clams unless you feed them outside the tank in a bowl or something is going to cause major water quality issues with stock filtration on a 2.5g tank.
