Tank crashed (again). Forgot to turn the filter on after spot feeding. You know how the story goes; gone for the weekend, came home to see all the expensive corals looking like crap, water looks like milk. blaa, blaa, blaa...

Well, I was looking for a way to kill off those pesky flatworms (which conqeured my tank and were preparing to take over the world...) This crash seems to have done the trick though biggrin.gif.

Im actually not that ###ed. I was mad about having to frag that $40 chalice, but Im not that mad about seeing my tank like this. huh. Maybe im still in denial:)

haha thats so cool. The thing filters out the word p i s s e d, but not crap.

The fun never ends does it? I was carrying my bucket of water over the tank when the bottom tapped the monitor. Water came over the sides and went straight down the monitor (bullseye) BBZIINNG.......... That was the end of that antique. Ive needed a new monitor for some time now though.

All blastos still look like crap. Non of them are opening up, and when I look into there mouths, I see this greyish stuff. They are completely retracted, all showing around 70-80% skeleton. Most of the zoas looks bad also. The base of the ric is brown and the chalice is dead, or at least 90% of it. The water still looks milky, even after the 60% water change.

Anyways, could someone help me out with my blastos? I dont know what to do. I cant spot feed it because its all retracted. Also, in sime places around the skeleton, instead of seeing the normal color os the blasto like green or red, I see brown. Im assuming this is a bad thing? What is the chance of these blastos living? I would take a pic, but my camera is acting funny with the family computer (cant use mine cause of the monitor).

Not sure if this is too late, but your best bet is to move the LPS out into a holding tank with fresh heated salt water. I suspect your tank will go through a mini-cycle if it really has crashed. The same thing goes for your zoas. Basically get a number of small containers - you can provide circulation by using an airstone / air pump until your main tank stabilizes. Doing large water changes on the main tank will also help. In addition I would run carbon. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Oh boy, sorry to hear about this. sad.gif

How goes it now? In cases like this there is not much you can do bar water changes to get the water quality back in line, keep things stable and wait patiently. Hopefully all is not lost.
