Here's my entry photo. I'll update with all the specs once the rest of my equipment comes in and I get a chance to do the mods. I'm going to be going for a clean look here. I don't want equipment and wires hanging out everywhere, because I think they take away from the beauty of the tank.

Thanks guys! I went with the minibow because I don't really like the standard tanks. Silicone corners really bug me for some reason. I'm finally up and running, but haven't really gotten off the ground yet, because I've been super busy lately (I hate being a grad student). I also ran into a problem. I hastily ordered 13w ballast kits from hello lights, and didn't realize until they arrived that they didn't have remote ballasts. Now I"ve wasted $30 and still have to order more lighting. Does anyone know if I can remove the ballasts, add some wires and install them remotely? (spose I should ask in the lighting forum).

Oh, and Babycakes, I agree... Firefly rocks You should buy the dvd set! There are three unaired episodes on it, plus the more money they make off of sales, the better the chances that they'll make the 2nd and 3rd movies!

I also must say yay for Firefly! Good stuff.

Firefly has not aired on UK TV which is a real shame cause I think it's great!! I only came to know about it through the cinema release of 'Serenity'. I had to go out and order the complete series on DVD right after I saw it. It's such a shame that the series got cut short.

Anyway there's not a lot of action in this thread so it must be time for a bumper update by now, right?

i LOVE firefly! definitely one of my favorite series/shows.

unfortunately/fortunately i only saw it in dvd format and not the screwed up order fox forced them to air the series. morons.

absolutely funny! i love that show and farscape but i'd have to say it's funnier than farscape. anyhow, sorry for the slight hijeck and just bumping like ann says.

btw i think you can just extend the wires for the remote ballasting, splice and dice. or is that dice and splice? uh, um, go ask the guys in the diy forum.

Farrah, this is the first I've seen your thread. I thought you were going to join and I'm happy you did. I love your other tanks!! I think it's time you give us an update on this one.

Sorry for the lack of updates... been having some problems, so I don't have much to show right now. I was able to rewire the ballasts and I installed two 13w PCs along with a cpu fan to keep it cool (unfortunately I'm still having heat issues). I also cut some plexiglass and placed it underneath the hood to keep out moisture and lower the evaporation. Right before xmas, I drove 4 hrs (roundtrip) to buy some nice coral, went out of town for the holiday, got stuck out longer than I had planned due to a stomach virus, and when I returned, three inches had evaporated out of the tank. All of the coral looks really unhappy now. I'm trying to decide what to do now...

And on a completely different topic, my damned strawberry crab ate about 1/3 of my coraline algae in another tank while I was gone!! Argh!!
