Hey guys,
I have had this A.T.O for about a year. Today it decided to not top off my tank. The water drops to the normal level( red light comes on for the sensor) and the yellow light comes on for the pump. My ehiem pump comes on right away, but not today. I disconnected it and pluged it independently and worked fine. Please help??? I only have it with one float switch at the time

I had the same problem however my ATO arrived that way, just got the new one in. You should call JBJ they have good customer service as far as I have experienced.

Unplug the ATO then plug it back in.

Make sure it is on the correct mode

Hey Steve,
It's the same settings as before. I even tripped the switch also

just spoke to them, the tech support said that the board is dead...what a P.O.S. i spend 100$ and what a waste....anybody have any other suggestions to ATO? i am not looking for an expensive auto top off, and one that doesn't have a circ. board. I looked on autotopoff.com and saw a nice model. I am concerned that it doesn't have a voltage reducer.

did you get the low voltage option?
Deano
Get the low voltage. High voltage through the float switch makes them short out quickly. Also high voltage is not good running through the tank if if fails. I had one of the autotopoff brand. But have since went with this one. By far a better product.

did you try to reset the float switch? If the float switch get the signal that the water is low it activate the pump wether it is plugged or not, it will continue to provide current to the plug where the pump should be plugged for about 3 minutes then it will do an auto shut off to prevent floading.

To reset the switch you must lift the little floater up and then back down.

That's all there is to it usualy.

I have 2 of them and they work well.

I forgot. I use the Aqua Lifter Pump on my BC29 to pump the water from a container into my tank. On my 5.5 gal tank I use a battery operated air pump to pressurize a 2 liter coke bottle. The float switch turns on the air pump. The air pump pressurizes the 2 liter bottle. When the float turns off the air pump the bottle pressurizes down. Now the trick here is to make sure that you have the float switch shut off eairly so that you have room to allow the 2 liter bottle to de pressurize. Otherwise you will over fill the tank.
