Well I plan on putting one of these into my BioCube 29. I was going to purchase a Rio 6HF but they seem to be hard to come by. I did find a place that has it, but with shipping it is cheaper to get one of the other two.

So the question is which one do you all think is the better to go with.

Go with koralias. Those pumps you looking at flow water in a stream. The koralia blows water in multiple directions. I recently switch my seios in my 65 mixed reef to a koralia 2 and koralia evo 750. There's not one single spot the doesn't get flow. Also the flow is gentle. My 2 cents

Are you replacing the stock return pump? If so then a MJ1200 would be your best bet (extremely reliable). If you're looking for extra flow, then Koralias are a better bet. For a BC29, I'd recommend a nano 425 and a evo 750 for extra flow or three 425s. Or you could go with the much more pretty and effective (and costly) MP10. I have one and I have no regrets.

I plan on replacing the stock pump, didn't think about mentioning that. I did a little research on the different pumps on the site and here are some of my beliefs, let me know if these are correct:

Maxijet 1200:
-Advantages: Many have said they are reliable, with a steady flow.
-Disadvantages: They produce more heat than what some would prefer.

Rio 1100:
-This one I'm not sure about, I haven't really read anything good or bad about them. The only thing I don't get is; the Rio 1100 has a watt rating of 22 vs the Maxijet 1200 with a watt rating of 20. So wouldn't that mean that the Rio 1100 would produce more heat?

Rio 6HF:
-Advantages: Only consumes 15 watts and produces the greats flow of 350 (maybe a little lower).
-Disadvantages: Gunk can build up over time which decreases flow and needs routine cleaning. I've also read that others have had to replace the 6HF after awhile.

So thats why I believe the Rio 6HF is the best route, but I didn't know if the others are closely similar or not. Let me know what you all think.

That was another question. I would have normally went with the Koralias 1. But it seams Hydor has replaced the Koralias 1 with the Nano 425. I've seen other people that have gotten the Koralias 750 which replaced the Koralias 2. I've read that others say the Koralias 2 was too much flow for the BC29. I plan on mostly doing softys, as I don't think I will be upgrading the stock lights and if I do I will only add one or two more PCs in there, so giving me 3 to 4 lights under the hood. If I have done my research correctly I think only softys will survive best under those lights.

Again thanks for any help.

Let me say I've had both the maxi-jet 1200 and the Rio 6HF, which I'm presently using. The reason I went with the Rio is because of better flow and lower wattage, which equals less heat is generated. This is important to me since I'm running nano-tuners' MH upgrade.

As far as cleaning the gunk goes, all pumps will need some cleaning sooner or later. So this really isn't an issue for me.

BTW, I've had my Rio for 3 years now with out any problems. wink.gif
