As you know the eheim 1260 has the 3/4 inch male threaded output. I grabbed this small female pvc connector that screwed in nicely and seems like it would work, but I just want to make sure. See attached pic.

Would you recommend teflon tape over the threads if it is ok?

Yes is will fit, yes I would Teflon tape it.

A couple wraps of teflon tape or better yet use the crayon stick type thread PVC sealant like LaCo Plasto Joint.

Most good hardware stores carry them or have a house brand similar to it. It is much better for PVC than teflon tape and stays pliable forever so does not leak.

Make sure with any PVC threaded joints you take a few minutes with a nail file, jewelers file, pocket knife or emery board and clean the excess flashing out of the threads. You would be amazed at how well this simple step helps prevent leaks and drips. It also makes teflon tape go on better since it does not tear or smear out when you screw things together. Same with the Plasto Joint, it stays put and does not scoop out of the threads since they are smooth.

Since you are only asking about the output should I assume you are running this pump internally? As in submerged? IF that's the case I wouldn't worry about putting anything on the threads, there is really no reason to.

Teflon tape or PlastoJoint also act as a thread lubricant naking it easier to remove the fitting in the future, it will keep salt and calcium out of the threaded areas.

Yeah.....
but I've never experienced any of the issues mentioned when running a pump internally/sumberged. As far as ease of removing the fitting at a later date... just don't go all Hulk-like on it when putting it on and that won't be an issue either. But whatever, your mileage may vary biggrin.gif
