Okay so does anyone remember this article from RB? Any word on when it's gonna finally get to the US? Also has anyone used the ebay clamp-on fans? I was looking at a thing of four of them for about $50 whereas the brand-name ones go for much more; is there really a difference? The only problem I could see is if they made a bunch of noise or something. Anyone want to chime in? Eventually I'd like to get a chiller, but for now I think the fans would be plenty.

its basically computer fans hooked up to a power supply and a fancy clip that attaches to the tank. i dont get why people would spend more than 10 bucks on it...yet alone 50-100 for some name brand fans that pretty much does the same thing.

I was using the JBJ cbreeze fan until temps started to climb. I broke down and got a chiller. Now its nice to know that the tank is being held constant and its quieter now too.

I'd say just bite the bullet and get the chiller.

Using four CPU fans linked to an RKL temp controller.

Keeps a steady 77-78.5

I use a four fan unit controlled by a reefkeeper. I am able to keep a reef tank with MH lighting without a chiller. It does help that the tank is in an A/C office.

Electric bill goes up in the summer from my own AC. The tank itself has minimal impact IMO...maybe a few bucks a month. Considering the total cost, its ideal.

I use a pair of ebay clamp-on fans hooked up to a RKL (also have an ATO). Works very well except for extreme temperatures (95+).

I'm using two fans on my sump along with my RKL, temps are maintained at a steady 79 degrees, temps outside in key west are hot so fans do work, without the fans my tank was running at about 84 to 85 degrees daily, so the fans helped a bunch. Btw, very quite as well.

2, $6 fans keep me at 80 through the summer

I use the AC set at 68 degrees all summer long. That keeps my tank at 78-79 all the time. But my electric bill is 160 dollars a month. I work in the heat sure am not going to sleep in it.

Lmao!, no, not football, it would be nice tho, I'd definately have more than a bc29 if I was In the NFL. Nope, I keep the power on so that the rest of the people can enjoy their ac, tv and fish tanks!

Too funny, I too am one of the unfortunate ones who works out in the heat all day but I'm still running a single window unit since the place I'm renting doesn't have ch&a and I'm not forkiung over my hard earned money to hook a place up I'm not staying at forever. I do industrail new construction as an instrument fitter and it's Texas today and Florida next month and then who knows but a simple 9 dollar wal-mart fan blowing across my water directly keeps my water at a constant 72-74* all day and night. The fan is plugged into the same timer as my MH so it kicks on when my light kicks on and turns off the instan my lights go out. This has worked perfect for me hope you find what works for you.

I just use an AirKing clip-on fan plugged into a controller. It doesn't turn on very often here in San Francisco, at most a couple of weeks out of the year.
