I have read some post that claim that you cant use a media basket and a Tunzee 9002 skinny collection cup from In Tank and I was hoping someone could confirm either way that it will or won't work in a Nano 28g?
Thanks

You can only use one or the other. They both fit in the center chamber and take up the entire space. So either choose the media basket or the Tunze.

So the tunzee needs to go in chamber number 3 in a 28gal jbj Nanak

no it doesn't fit in chamber three. It only fits in the center chamber

So is it possible to put the media basket in the middle chamber and the tun zee in the chamber where you show a fugue basket?
Thanks

I think you are referring to the Biocube 29, not the NC28
Here is the back of a NC28 with a Tunze 9002 installed.

There's definitely no way to get both the media basket and the Tunze 9002 Skimmer in the NC28. One other thing to keep in mind is that with a Tunze skimmer (or the JBJ stock skimmer) the collection cup needs to be removed to open the main part of the hood at all. I ended up going with the AquaMaxx HOB Skimmer that I installed last week, and that will let me open the hood about halfway, which was important since I get in my NC28 almost daily. The AquaMaxx has been doing a great job compared to the stock skimmer I had on.
For the media basket, I use Chaeto in chamber 3 and use the JBJ magnetic refugium light, which works well. StevieT and a couple others on these boards sell some nice custom baskets that give you a few more options than the standard JBJ basket.
Hope that helps.

There is only one vendor of a NC28 media basket on this forum.

Thanks for the help. Looks like I will go with the Tunzee in the 28 and the media basket in the 24gal

Finally getting around to putting the Tunzee in but it does not fit and is different than the pic above. My issue is where the magnet goes on the skimmer it self will not clear the wall. And your pic does not show the cord.
Thanks I have the mediabasket in my 24 with the underwater light for the chaeto and it appears to be working great.
Thanks

You need to remove the magnet from the side of the skimmer to make the skimmer fit. Most put it on the rear with epoxy. Use a hacksaw blade or dremel to remove the magnet.

So when I remove the magnet that is attached to the skimmer itself I should glue it to the back and attach the magnet on the outside of the tank?

Glue one magnet to the rear of the skimmer, use the supplied second one for the outside of the tank.

So I cut off the magnet from the body and tried to put the skimmer in the overflow chamber but I am not able to get it in all the way as it is SO tight I am afraid I will break it. Is this normal or do I need to do more mods?
Thanks

It should go right into the center chamber, where the water enters.

I got it to fit I just had to move the cord so it did not run up the side. Now another issue that came up is the bottom plate that holds the pump in broke so I need to find some way to hold the pump in. Any advise on that and should I bother to try to dial the skimmer in at first or just let it run as it is only making bubbles now.
Oh yeah by Saphire in my 24 broke after i dropped it so I am looking for a skimmer for that and it appears there aren't too many that fit but if I want to remove the hood I have plenty of options. $$$$
I love this hobby
Thanks for all of your help.

Just use zip ties to hold both the top and bottom plates on.
The tunze does work in the NC24 I am told with the hood. You just have to have a lower water level in the chamber. You don't really need a skimmer in that small of a tank, just do water changes.
